So far, SXM seems fairly stable, but the situation in Curacao in particular, and in Europe, continues to degrade. Island residents need to get vaccinated to protect themselves..

I just don't understand the reluctance to getting the Vaccine.

I guess it depends on where you get you "knowledge" from

Fear and lack of knowledge are one thing, and on the island, culture and superstition are big factors.

Got my second pfizer shot thursday. Whamo. Thursday night fever, aches/sharp pains in joints that have never hurt, swollen lymph nodes and a Friday of total inablity to do anything. Today AOK except swollen armpit and shortness of breath.

Far worse a reaction to any flu vaccine for me. I feel like I gave myself baby corona. The officials tell me its worth it. I did for travel and unusual interactions in groups, not for everyday local living.

It is a choice of reason to inject a foreign agent in your body. Some people will be a statistic. Hopefully these phase 3 trials and actual wide usage will tell us far more. Especially if this is an annual or more frequent choice.

There is a plethora of information on the efficacy and safety of all vaccines currently on the market. What you felt was your bodies immune system ratcheting up to fight the "perceived" threat. Since there is no Covid virus in the vaccine, you can't get baby Covid from it. Trust me, you don't ever want to be on a ventilator.

How can we find out how many active cases are on St. Maarten on a daily basis? Is there a website we can go to? Can we trust the information?
So excited to get back to the island soon but this information would be handy.

Some people are not afraid of the vaccine, they just have a phobia of needles

I struggle with attachments here. Hopefully this will show up. it is compiled from info on the Government of Sint Maarten FB page. Testing numbers are not posted on a daily basis, so they sometimes don't change for a week.
