Sunwing Flight

Sunwing Flight - 04/16/2021 12:20 PM

I watched a Sunwing flight arrive late yesterday afternoon from Toronto (YYZ) and is still there this morning. I believe the Canadian Government banned all flights to Mexico and the Caribbean until April 30th. So does anyone know is this a one of flight or has regular service resumed? I am scheduled for my first vaccine shot on Sunday and seeing a flight arrive from Canada, well I told my wife (who has to wait for a little longer for her shot) I'll send her pictures lol.

I wonder if someone chartered it? Or maybe there are some Sunwing officials who want to check on Sonesta and Great Bay? Hmmmmmm
Very interesting....

Maybe the pilot was "Wrong Way Corrigan"

Perhaps some Canadian citizens were evacuated to SXM from St. Vincent, and this is their flight home?

I saw the same flight arrive late yesterday. Interesting.

Me too! I wonder how many even know what that refers to, since it took place back in the 1930s??

I got it and I was born in 1947. Even remember Kilroy Was Here too.

Yeah, as a post-war air force brat (1949), I remember "Kiiroy was here", too, and also, of course, "Johnny Canuck"!! But we do date ourselves. LOL!!

WestJet has just cancelled flights to sun destinations until “at least” June 4th.
Story can be seen HERE

Re: Sunwing Flight - 04/16/2021 08:47 PM

I'm not surprised by WestJet's decision, especially considering the current, dramatic rise in new Covid-19 cases we are experiencing here in Canada. I suspect it will not be the last extension of flight cancellations to sun destinations.

I'm not feeling good about my June 24 Sunwing booking!

Re: Sunwing Flight - 04/17/2021 01:33 AM

Actually Sunwing Charter brought supplies for SVG .

Re: Sunwing Flight - 04/17/2021 02:09 AM

Celebrity Reflection, carrying US, Canadian, and British evacuees from SVG, is currently west of Montserrat (speaking of volcanos!). She is now due into Philipsburg at about 08:20. If that Sunwing plane is still around, I’m sure that the Canadian evacuees would very much like to get on a flight home.

Sunwing left .

Pretty plane. Saw it leave.

Re: Sunwing Flight - 04/17/2021 03:08 PM

Ah well. Celebrity Reflection is now in port in St Maarten. From what I've read, the evacuees are now on their own to arrange onward travel.

For Celebrity Cruise Ship. Special desk was set up and sign made for the arriving crew.

Re: Sunwing Flight - 04/17/2021 08:03 PM

Thanks....I assumed that but with the first departure set for June 5th it seemed a tad early for the crew to get to SXM

Re: Sunwing Flight - 04/17/2021 08:56 PM

Guess they are getting them on island early to make sure everyone is trained from the ground up, with all the new Covid requirements, and to make sure everything is 'ship-shape', considering the ships have been out of service for a whole year.
