Help! I am soooooo Confused!!!!! - 10/26/2021 07:50 PM

We arrive on Nov. 9th. We both have been vaccinated and have our card. If I understand this correctly, we only need our vac card to fly in to Sint Maarten. I understand we still have to register with the EAHS. Now comes where I'm totally confused, we will be staying on the French side. From what I've read we need a neg Covid test. When and where do we get a Covid test??? And what do we need to prove we got one? Do we send it to the EAHS the same time as our vac card??? Like I said, TOTALLY CONFUSED!

Get the appropriate test within the 72- 48 hour window and bring original test results with you to present to whom ever is checking you in at the place you're staying at.
EHAS my ask for PDF of test results if you state you're staying on French side but not sure.

DDnBob

The latest information I have is from LaPlaya, where we will be staying:

“Dear Guest,

For safety reason, we would like to inform you that from Friday 22nd of october, the authorities of St-Martin and St-Maarten have decided to apply the sanitary pass. Therefore, in order to stay in the hotel or if you which to go in a bar or a restaurant, you will be asked to submit your vaccination certificate or a PCR or antigenic test less than 72h or a Covid-19 recovery certificate less than 6 months.

Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any question about those new measures.

Awaiting for the pleasure to welcome you soon,

Kind Regards”

Best of luck

I'd reach out to where you're staying, and follow their requirements. EHAS is operated by the Sint Maarten government, so I doubt they are enforcing French requirements.

I have the same question. Arriving after Nov 1st but staying at French side.

Again, I suggest you check with your host.

You need to present a negative covid test that was taken within 72 hours of arriving at where you are staying. The text posted below is taken right from the French St Martin website, and I have also included a link below the text where you can see the actual website.

"For travelers with accommodation on the French side
If you are staying in an establishment on the French side of the island, a negative test result of less than 72 hours is mandatory."

St Martin - covid info link

Scroll down about half way to immediately before "Grand Case Espérance Airport"

Just take the test at home before the 72 hour period. It doesn't specify PCR or Antigen so just go with the easiest that works for you and present the results to where you are staying. They won't have access to EHAS so why post to the website.

What I suggest, cancel and stay on the Dutch side.

We are arriving same date and staying French side; I do not believe a COVID test is required to stay on the French side at that time in smaller (<=30 people) accommodations. This is based on recent info from our hotel and info at this link:
COVID-19 / IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MEDICAL PASS IN SAINT-MARTIN
(which has been posted on the forum before - thank you to whoever did that)
Definitely do as others have said and check with your hotel though.

I agree, check with where you are staying, but the health pass governs day to day movement in and out of establishments but, as was listed in my prior post, the government says it's mandatory to have a test 72 hours prior. Ambiguity yes, but I, myself, would err on the side of caution .

My understanding is that the negative Covid test is required for Americans staying on the French side. Canadians arriving on the island directly from Canada are exempt, since under the French rules Canada is on the list of "green" countries. The USA is still on the "orange" list, hence fully-vaccinated Americans still also need the Covid test to stay. Again, none of this is applicable if you are staying on the Dutch side.

I believe that is correct for larger (>30) accoms, per the link I posted in my earlier post' I don't see anywhere that it varies by nationality so for "Americans" presumably can read "visitors".
OP doesn't say but assuming they are arriving at PJIA on Dutch side they would only need COVID test if not fully vaccinated (per Sint M govt. here: )
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS (October 22, 2021)
Definitely confusing, hope the OP got a response from their accoms.

It's possible that the French website has not been updated to reflect the new rules as of Nov. 1. We arrive on November 7th, staying on the French side as always. We're not planning on getting a test prior to arrival since we are fully vaccinated, but we'll double check with our hotel anyway.

For DDnBob and anyone else wondering, I got a response from my French side hotel. We don't need a test, they only take a copy of your vaccination card.

That agrees with what LaPlaya is telling us.

We're only staying on the French side for our first two nights, and the information that I got from GCBC was that we only needed to present our vaccine cards; however, that was before France dropped the US from the "green" to the "orange" category. I sent an email to GCBC last evening just to confirm that nothing has changed, and haven't yet heard back from them.

However, I just found this information on the US Embassy site, which confirms that fully-vaccinated travelers to France from the US need only present their vaccine cards.

"Travelers to France:

Fully vaccinated travelers* face no restrictions on travel. Such travelers need to present their proof of vaccination (French government officials accept the CDC card for this purpose) and a sworn statement (normally provided by the airline) certifying the absence of COVID-19 symptoms and of any contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
* France considers a traveler to be fully vaccinated two (2) weeks after the second dose of the Pfizer, Moderna, or AstraZeneca vaccines, and four weeks after the single dose of the Johnson&Johnson/Jansen vaccine. No other vaccines are acceptable."

Here is a link to the site if you want to read the information for yourself:

Edited to add that I heard back from GCBC, and they told me to check with my airline, lol. So....I'm going with the assumption that the proof of vaccination will be sufficient.

We have a reservation at the Grand Case Beach Club starting December 1. Spoke with them just a short time ago and they only require presentation of Vaccination Cards at check in.

Re: Help! I am soooooo Confused!!!!! - 10/29/2021 09:00 PM

That's my understanding as well from the link Lars posted on another thread. I fear people from orange rated countries will have an issue to get tested on the french side once they get there if they are staying there. The hotel people will be fined if they don't comply. Hope it doesn't happen & maybe no one will check.

Dear Jeepers, all,

As a (Swedish) host at Mont Vernon (French part), I’m a bit confused myself.
When the epidemic started, all hoteliers, including hosts via Airbnb/VRBO like myself, became asked to check and report the 72 hour rt-PCR test.
The prefect in his statement seems to ask my concierges to check BOTH a 72 hour rt-PCR test AND a vaccination proof, e.g. a “CDC Covid-19 Vaccination Record Card” in the US case.
In this, or another thread, the US embassy in France suggests that a vaccine proof is good enough.
I suggest, as there is ambiguity, please when to stay in the French part (and being an “orange” US citizen): when checking in, please bring with you BOTH proofs (to make it easier for us hoteliers in the French part).

Kindly, Lars
