WILL VISITORS BE ALLOWED TO RECEIVE VACCINE ON ST MAARTEN?

WILL VISITORS BE ALLOWED TO RECEIVE VACCINE ON ST MAARTEN? - 02/08/2021 12:34 PM

I read this in todays Daily Herald that undocumented people will be allowed to receive the Covid vaccine here in St Maarten. Does that mean that visitors who stay longer than 1 month may receive the vaccine?
Here is what was in the Herald:
"a free vaccine will become available to all documented and undocumented residents, in an effort to combat the effects of the COVID-19 virus."

From what I have read elsewhere, the answer is "no" and it does indicate "residents". A visitor is not a resident but who knows how it may play out. Good question for the SXM government and good luck on getting an accurate or timely response.

They have yet to coordinate the EHAS site with other government related sites. It results in conflicting information, confusion and causes some to question coming or cancelling their trip.

No. For residents only. Even those who come for months can't get it here.

How about those who own property on the Island such as a Condominium or villa?

Nope, only full time residents. We will get enough vaccines for our population. Prime Minister has made it quite clear.

Can a Canadian cross the border to get a vaccine in the US? Border restrictions aside.

Elaine--you don't want to go there, in terms of Canadians, as a lot of them did get it here in Florida.

I understand that, guess I should have picked France, or Peru. But it won't happen here. The Dutch are sending us enough for the population at no cost to us.

Our friend from AZ flew to Florida to get his shots. AZ was a complete mess so he worked the system and found Florida as doable. It is a touchy subject for sure!

Our CT next door neighbors were also able to drive to FL and get their vaccine but they are FL home owners and do have at least one car registered there. Were it not for Covid, they would typically spend half the year in each location.

How many doses will Dutch send?
Has registration begin on who will take shot?
If the residents do not use the vaccine it would be smart to vaccinate anyone on the Dutch side that is willing to take it.
The ultimate goal is to get as many in the world the shots so we can move forward.
Lots of speculation and misinformation in this coronaworld so we just deal with what is the discussion of today.

They will send enough for those residents who want it. Govt has had a visit from Dutch specialists to set up and prepare for the administration of the vaccine. Lots of extra medical professionals here at the moment. Was talking to a "Flying Nurse" from the US the other day, here to help out. They are putting into place the registration system and have said first phase will be healthcare workers and those over 60 (or 65, can't remember). Vaccines due to arrive about 2/15.

Fridge systems and other equipment have been here for a month.

Washington was allowing Oregonians to cross over for the vaccine. Now only Oregonians that work in Washington St can get them. Have to show proof of residency or proof of work place in WA..

For information only...Florida was being used my others outside the state at the initial rollout of the vaccine. Finally after outcry, the Governor changed his stance, and it is now only available for FLORIDA residents...or someone that can prove a Florida address. There still are millions of Floridians that live here full time, over 65 years of age, and cannot still get the shot due to signup. My wife has respiratory issues for years, less than three months from her 65th birthday, and has not been able to get vaccinated.

Ed--at this time in Florida there is no priority for those under 65, except for healthcare workers. Thank god, we got a call today and we are both scheduled for day after tomorrow!! We feel lucky to be able to get it before our trip in June.

Friends of ours pulled a travel trailer down into a Florida campground last week and that was a good enough address to get the vaccine in Osceola county this week. They are both over 65.

That is just wrong in so many ways. Takes it away for the Florida residents.

Ridiculous. We had been on the waiting list for a month in two different counties, and these people got a vaccine before us?? Anyway, thank god we are scheduled for Wednesday.

They did not do it for the vaccine, but upon arrival they heard so many other campers from out of state had gotten it, they signed up to.

And this is why so many people who are legitimate residents of Florida cannot get a vaccine yet.

Seems like this thread has totally gotten away from the topic of visitors be allowed to be allowed to receive vaccine in SXM.
Suggest it be moved with to the other SXM forum as the topic has changed to US vaccine administration.

Yes, that's true. The original question was answered pretty definitively in the negative..

They might give a shot to a visitor.
Our group was offered the vaccine last month during visits to Market Garden and somewhere else. We all said no in passing and maybe they would have confirmed the obvious we were on vacation but we got the vibe that we could have gotten a jab if we wanted one.
