Recent best snorkling and little known stops? - 05/01/2017 08:10 PM
We have not been able to sail the BVIs in the last 4 years, and are so excited to be back later this month! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" /> Does anyone have any recommendations for snorkeling spots? Or any little known spots that we should check out? Thanks!!

Little known spots need to be kept that way <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

The last time that we sailed (4 years ago), someone told us about the cannon and cannon balls--great snorkeling spot behind Saba Rock, and we all really enjoyed it! That is the type of thing that we are looking for.

Diamond Cay, between Marina Cay and Scrub, there are dinghy balls at the snorkel spot, very nice

Not secret, but new.... Ship(Kodiak Queen?) just sunk near Mountain Point to make a dive reef

Thank you all so much! We didn't know about either spot, and will definitely try them both, and report back!
25 sleeps and counting until we are in paradise. !! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Banana.gif" alt="" />

Where are the cannon and cannonballs located? My kids would think that's really cool!

We really like The Indians. Well known, but a crowd pleaser.

The snorkeling spot with the cannon and cannon balls is behind Saba Rock in Eustacia Sound. You have to take a dinghy, it is very shallow. Just Dinghy straight out until right before the waves are breaking, and there is a Dinghy ball line to tie to. It is wonderful--our son's favorite snorkeling spot!

Out on Eustacia reef there are two white buoys marked "private BEYC". The cannons are within about 50 feet of the left buoy in about 7 feet of water. There are two separated cannons. I have not seen the cannonballs.

There is a cannon at the Rhone, but it's a dive, not a snorkel

I often use google earth satellite at high magnification to explore new destinations for reef sites and good snorkel spots.

Pretty familiar with the Diamond Cay off Little JVD. However, can't find any Diamond Cay between Scrub Island and Marina Cay on Google Earth, Google Maps or any paper chart. So, is this the BVI insiders' left-handed monkey wrench? If not, where is it?

Diamond Reef, not Diamond Cay. It's at the SW corner of Great Camanoe across from Marina Cay.

Not so secret but always Cistern Rock off Cooper always delivers with some surprises. Also, less exotic but Great Harbor on Peter along the shore is so easy and often great variety of fish.
