Virgin Gorda Overnight (not in North Sound) - 04/22/2018 10:20 AM

What are the options for overnight moorings that are not in North Sound on Virgin Gorda?

Only options are the 10 or so overnight moorings at St Thomas Bay near the entrance to VGYH.

Why avoid the North Sound? Yes, Bitter End and Saba are unavailable but there is still great snorkeling out at the reef (with a ball to hold the dinghy) and many other things to do.

We were surprised we spent 4 nights in North Sound last week. 1 on a ball at Saba, 1 on a ball at Leverick, and 2 on the dock at Leverick.

We visited Oil Nut Bay and it was tremendous! I'm sure they will close the doors to cruisers in the near future so take advantage of it while we can.

We also spent another day on VG at The Baths, another day at Leverick enjoying their pool and grounds.

There are 8 or 10 mooring balls outside of Spanish Town marina. You can dinghy over to the beach by the ferry dock and catch a taxi. Only problem is there is no place to tie up your dinghy. We took ours into the marina but they did charge us $18.00 to tie it up for the evening. That plus the $30 for the mooring ball was almost the same price for a slip at Leverick. We stayed at Leverick for two nights 4/12 & 4/13. Had a fantastic time there. Great people. The Fri night BBQ was absolutely beautiful and delicious. Our three favorite places in the BVI are Leverick, Anegada, and Jost. We're thinking our next trip will be three nights at each stop.

I was just looking for another stop before or after North Sound. Want to do baths, dogs, and the BVI art wreck. Looking for somewhere to break up the trip.

So when Spanish town marina goes Bankrupt for over charging and no one goes there anymore,i don't want to hear a peep from them..just shut up and quietly go under ..talk about taking advantage .I understand that you just went thru a terrible hurricane season but that is not our fault and sure you need to make money but not all at once>>>

It’s a tourist marina and it will always thrive.
Most all the restaurants in the BVI would have failed if they were in the US due to poor to non existent service, but they have a captive and politically correct clientele.
