North Sound entrance marker

Maybe this is old news, but the inner green channel marker is sitting on Colquhoun reef, instead of where it belongs. That made for a confusing melange of reds and greens for us yesterday, approaching from the northeast and looking into the sun at 3:00.

Thank you. We’re heading down that way next week.

Well a power cat just went up high and dry on Colquhoun Reef (Tue ~2:30). Looks to be a MarineMax 48. They appear to be in the breakers and well outside the channel. VISAR looks to be on scene.

For those of us playing along at home...is this because of the marker?

Doesn't really make sense...coming in, one would tend to stay to the right/red. Going out one should simply know better.

Still on the reef tonight with surf boiling around it. Nice of them to leave their running lights on. Towboats didn't want to ripe it apart trying to pull it off.

I'm anchored off Prickly Pear. May head over tomorrow to rubberneck. As a charter boat owner, I feel horrible for the owner. Boat will never be right again.

With the North swell it’s going to just get pushed further on the reef. Probably will end up totaled.

I don't know what happened, but yesterday was a squally day, with 35-40kt winds and near-whiteout rain coming through the area every hour or so. Fortunately for us they only hit us while moored, but if you tried going thru the Colquhoun cut in that you would have problems.

I agree FLJim it was very squally, but you still need to maintain situational awareness. They pulled the boat off the reef this morning and towed it to Leverick Bay.
