ONly if you bring a new vehicle in. In any event I sure don't want to spend a lot of money for a car in the BVI. Mine a 2004 jeep grand cherokee cost me about 4k and then with transportation of about another 2k so a total of 6k More control of everything by the government.

They want to prevent all the old, used cars coming in from Japan. I get it, because the government then bears the cost of disposing of junk cars. Our Rover was bought new from Burke's in 1973. Will be needing its 4,000 mile check-up soon.

Grenada is doing the same thing. No importation of vehicles older than 10 years after this year. The new vehicles have so many black boxes and sensors that I I'd rather have a well tuned older vehicle. We have a Toyota RAV4 on St. John and I hope its many computers deal with the envionment!

Cheers, RickG

Thorsten, you asking about our mileage? One owner, 4,000 original miles, never registered. Just goes up and down the hill.

I'm kind of amazed it managed to accumulate so many miles, but my 23 year old Tortola vehicle has 97k miles. Would love to know how many brake pads it's gone thru!

Bought the 73 Thing in 1986 for $1,900. Put the right bits back on it. It was my daily driver around LA as I didnt want to use my 56 Porsche or 56 Cadillac at the time to the rigours of that. The car went through the LA Riots, fires, mudslides the whole OJ trial and floods...went down through Baja , Mexico and up to Sonoma. We used it as a camera car with the top off, windshield down and camera mounted in the back. Two engine rebuilds, one new gearbox ( second needed soon), dozens of brake parts..shipped it to Tortola in 2006 where it has been beaten to death by the roads, potholes and hills and survived getting swamped and blown apart by Hurricane Irma. We have battled the rust with "creative" welding and bodywork and now, hopefully, it awaits our return under its cover at CRC. BTW..a VW Thing just sold in auction for $54,000..think I've got my $$'s worth??

The cover is indeed intact and looking very secure!

I'll bet you love the Thing! I had a 72 VW bus high top, 67 and 69 beetle and my wife's first car was a 67. I miss owning them because I could work on them, now these new vehicles have to go to a real mechanic!!

You need my 2012 997 GTS cab I am selling. It would round out your inventory perfectly! Only 18,000 miles but willing to go to a million!
