COVID Testing Options - return to US via USVI - 01/16/2022 04:12 PM

Good day, wrapping up final logistics for upcoming trip (1/24 - 1/30).

Trying to assess best options for testing on Saturday 1/29, departing on 1/30. Is it better to get testing on location or complete the proctored at-home test (Abbott BinaxNOW).

We will be in Soper's Hole/West End Terminal area in the AM and Nanny Cay in the PM.

Thanks in advance, Stefan
p.s. may have more questions coming wink

If you have the Binox proctored tests no reason at all not to use them.

Did a little more digging (as I have a couple brands of test kits) and these are more self-tests and do not meet the CDC requirements. May need to look for onsite options.

Thanks

The proctored BinaxNow tests are available from emed.com. They meet all the travel testing requirements for getting in and out of BVI from US that I am aware of.

Ended up getting the test kits from Qured.com.

Are those tests CLIA certified and do they come with a full, signed lab report?

You still have time to order emed tests as every time I have ordered (3-4 separate times), they have come next day, except once when "backordered" and then only 2-3 days after ordering.

Per my other post..After ordering the Binax test ten days ago with a 14 day delivery they told me they could not deliver...EMed said 4 to 5 business days with no guarantees and no info if they had the kits in stock.Thank goodness for TTOLers coming to my rescue!

I don't know if the proctored tests meet US entry requirements, but I bought travel insurance that will pay expenses if my departure is delayed by a positive test, and they require it be an in person test...

Proctored meet US...day before is good enough and not 24 hours. Used it 3 weeks ago to get back to US...BVI-SJU-DCA

We are on a similar itinerary - 1/22 to 1/30, see you out there on the water! We are also planning to use the BiNax proctored tests for the whole crew.

FYI to all who ordered test through Emed. I ordered our tests on Jan 11, still have not arrived. I've been calling them every few days, no email confirmations etc.
Just got off the phone with an agent who asked if I checked my credit card to confirm the transaction. (never thought to do this). Well what do ya know, no charge from Emed for the tests. My order was never processed. After waiting 10 days and no reason why. If anyone is still waiting for their tests, I suggest you check your credit card for confirmation of the charge. Not a happy camper here. Ugh

there is also an order status option on the website. I'd start there.

Thought I'd post a status since I started the thread, but ordered kits through Qured and the are arriving by FedEx today, travel day tomorrow. Took a few phone calls to get assurance we would not resort to plan B. MLK holiday didn't help.

They are out of the 3-pack kits. $150 for 6.
