Off Limits Areas/Beaches? - 05/01/2022 04:01 PM
Traveling to BVI in a bit and have a question about beaches. We'd very much like to 'find' a spot, off the beaten path, where we could anchor, dingy to shore, and spend some alone-time on a beach. We realize the need to respect private land/areas but have no idea how to make such a determination from aboard.
Is there a guide or source to areas in the BVI where 'please don't come ashore' is shown?
Thanks in advance!

Have you gotten the Cruising Guide to the Virgin Islands? It gives you a lot of information, a must have. In general, all beaches are public, excepting certain islands that are private and resort areas. These are detailed in the guide.

All beaches are public up to the high tide line, but the levels of welcome varies.

Savanna/Pond Bay on VG has always fit that description for us. I've had whole days there where we're the only boat in the bay. It's a little tricky getting in and probably best to do it in good light and a bow spotter but take it slow and you'll be fine. In this video (please don't make fun of my cheesy video LOL) 0:45 to about 1:30 is Savanna. I think one other boat came in that day when we were having lunch, but other than that, it was just us.

HiSavannah and Pond Bay were redlined by TMM when we had a boat with them. You want to be sure and check that first or it would likely go badly if something would happen to the boat while there . Some have white bay Lost listed as well. In summer it's often a favorite spot for the sailing schools and often have it pretty well covered with many boats anchored .

If not redlined, check out Eustatia Sound in settled conditions. Beaches nearby at Prickly Pear. Good snorkeling at the reef. Easier approach is from the north - check the Cruising Guide. You could also stay on a ball in North Sound at Saba/BEYC and take the dinghy over for a daytrip.
