A few questions before my June trip!

A few questions before my June trip! - 06/04/2021 04:36 PM

Well, I'll finally be sailing in the USVI 2 weeks from today with my wife and 2 buddies! I'd greatly appreciate any advice on a few quick questions:

We'll be sailing 7 nights, mostly focused on St John. I'd love to sail to St Croix, mostly for the long sail. We'd stay only one night. Would it be worth it?

What are the best restaurants on St John for Anegada-esq lobster?

Any recommendation on a can't miss restaurant in St Thomas the night before we head out?

I've not heard many people focus on St Thomas when sailing the USVI. Is spending a night in Megans Bay highly recommended?

Thanks in advance for any help!!!!!!!

Hard to answer your question on if the sail to St Croix is "worth it". If you like a great sail I would absolutely recommend it. If your crew on the other hand views the sailing part as simply a way to get to the next anchorage it's harder to recommend. One night is fine btw - we've done that before. Get an early start from Salt Pond (or next door bays). Count on about 4 hours (likely shorter). Enjoy the afternoon and evening exploring Christiansted waterfront area which is quaint.

Megans Bay is a nice overnight anchor.

Spent ten days sailing in the USVI last month. My crew enjoyed Mafolie for dinner in the hills of Charlotte Amalie for our first night. Did not find any "Anegada-esq" lobster in the USVI. Our best restaurant on St John was ZoZo's (formerly Caneel) and we really enjoyed the restaurant on Lovango Cay, a short motor from Caneel Bay. After much research, we skipped Magen's Bay in favor of hiking and snorkeling on the south side of St John.

Lime In has been the best lobster for years.

We like Morgan’s Mango for lobster (Cruz Bay) unless we happen to snare and grill our own smile
