Trip Report II!

Trip Report II! - 07/28/2019 12:10 AM

Day 1 (July 26, 2019)

I Did: I was up by 2:00 and at Newark Liberty by 3:00. Our flight left at 6:15. We had a two hour flight before a layover in Charlotte. We then had a four hour flight down to St. Martin.
I Ate: Plane food...iiiiiccckkkk! Goodbye appetite, hello stomach ache for the rest of the day.
I Bought: Nothing. It was a travel day.
I Wore: I wore jeans and a tee shirt on the way down. As my stomach was a mess, I was in my pajamas by 7.
I Thought: It really hit me that by the time I leave the island, things will never be the same again. Just 5 more days until the 31st!

Re: Trip Report II! - 07/28/2019 12:35 AM

Not sure if I have missed something along the way, but why will things never be the same again and what is the significance of July 31st? 18th birthday maybe?

I think that is it. Little does she know what's in store for the future. Every year is an adventure.

Day 2 (July 27, 2019)

I Did: We went back to Parrot Ville and fed the birds again. It was great to be back there; back home there’s a place called Bird Paradise where you can have the birds step up on you, but it just isn’t the same! Afterwards, we went to Bikini Beach. There was a lot of seaweed there, but I was able to find a clear spot and wade knew-deep for a bit.
I Ate: We were at Bikini Beach Restaurant, where my boyfriend dared me to have an octopus stew, and I did! It didn’t taste bad, but it was really chewy.
I Bought: Another magnet from Parrot Ville. I’m not planning on buying a lot here.
I Wore: I wore a black crop top and my green capris pants for Parrotville and the restaurant...I call it my Kim Possible outfit if anyone remembers that show (I used to watch it when I was 5) For the beach, the sun wasn’t too bad so I was able to go full bikini.
I Thought: 4 more days until the 31st!

Day 3 (July 28, 2019)

I Did: I went to Mullet Bay Golf Course. I forgot to tell you all this girl golfs! The golf course was okay, but there were lots of weeds and crab grass there, and the grass was dead in other spots. It was still worth the visit, though, especially since this girl golfs. Afterward, we went to the southern (clothing optional) part of Orient Beach, where I waded knee-deep in the ocean for a bit before relaxing on the beach.
I Ate: I had a cheeseburger at Perch Lite. Thus, I only needed a small dinner at Subway.
I Bought: A set of golf balls with St. Martin on them. Did I mention this girl golfs?
I Wore: I wore capris jeans and a golf shirt (this girl golfs, remember?). At Orient, I actually almost ran into the ocean before my mom stopped me and reminded me that I needed to remove the pants! I kept the shirt on, and boy did it protect me from the sun.
I Thought: That awkward moment at Perch Lite when you’re almost full and reach down to unbutton your pants....and you realize you’re not wearing any. OMG, only 3 days until the 31st. I’ve got butterflies in my stomach like crazy!

Re: Trip Report II! - 07/28/2019 10:43 PM

Good advice from Mom. If you decide go snorkeling, keep in mind that a-t shirt may not be a fashion statement, but it may save your back. If you want to be totally grossed out, Google "English girl severe sunburn".

Check with Loterie Farm on the French Side to see if they ever opened their 9-hole Par 3 course. I haven't seen it mentioned since the article linked below was published in February. If it is open, it may be better maintained than Mullet.

OMG! Yeah, that would be me. That’s why I keep a shirt on unless it’s cloudy or shady.

Re: Trip Report II! - 07/29/2019 03:04 AM

You can still get burnt on a cloudy day and reflection from the sand under the shade.

True to that. But in that kind of situation, sunscreen actually works for me!

Okay, here we go. Sorry, but this one won’t be that exciting.

Day 4 (July 29, 2019)

I Did: Practically nothing. It rained. And it rained. And it rained. Okay, I did do stuff in the room, but I stayed in during most of the day.....because it rained. I spent the majority of the day sitting with my parents and boyfriend, mainly playing board games and going over a few things about the 31st. Oh yeah, and we all sang karaoke off the iPad. We’re a weird family, I know. Later, at around 5, when the rain finally got around to subsiding, we went to the southern end of Orient and played some volleyball for a bit. We then returned to the hotel for more games, and, yes, karaoke. Please don’t rain tomorrow!
I Ate: I had ribs delivered from the hotel restaurant. They were good, but different from the ones back home.
I Bought: Nothing. Because it rained.
I Wore: During the early time we were in the hotel room, I was in a tee shirt and panties. Later, when we played volleyball on Orient Beach and after we returned to the hotel, I just wore my sports bra.
I Thought: The 31st is almost here!

Re: Trip Report II! - 07/30/2019 02:41 AM

I'm not sure if everyone out there agrees with me, but I think Allison should organize the "St. Maarten 21 & Under" club to ensure that future generations keep coming to our island from all over North America. In fact, she should be president of the club. When I was 18 (a long, long time ago) I didn't even know where St. Maarten was.

As for golf, are you telling anyone what you shot? Course was really in rough shape back in March. Even the greens had turned brown. Ton of roll off the tee I imagine. Maybe some late summer rains can bring the course back a bit.

Thanks for your nice reports and keep them coming!

Re: Trip Report II! - 07/30/2019 03:28 AM

sammy..that golf course is always like a cow pasture. they take lousy care of it....the weeds usually the most green....and that is the way it has been since 1995. It is so hard to believe that back in the day, they used to travel and have tournaments on that course...it was BEAUTIFUL...lush....and a destination course. Then after Luis......it was all over.

Compared to the fact that some facilities are clothing optional, that would be a yawn. Too much information would be posting my bathroom habits...which I certainly will not.

I’m not trying to please any crowd. Half the population has no idea how much of a burden having boobs is. A physical activity like volleyball without a sports bra can result in painful consequences!

That’s a good idea. There weren’t too many people in my age group, but there were a few. It’s a shame most people my age aren’t aware how wonderful a place this is!

So, the question is ... is she on St. Martin with her boyfriend or her husband? Or both. There was once a single time where my wife didn't want to go to St. Martin for a week's getaway. But, when our friend Denise joked that she'd take my wife's place she (my wife) quickly changed her tune!

I WAS on the island with my boyfriend when he WAS my boyfriend, now I’m on the island with my husband because I MARRIED HIM!!!

Yes, I know I got married at 18 (actually, since I was born at 11:43 p.m., I was technically still 17), and I know a lot of you might be scratching your heads, but if you knew the whole story, you might understand.

Just wanted to end the suspense. The reports will resume soon... ❤️

Sorry, everyone. I’m sure you call all guess it’s been a crazy last few days, and they’ll continue for a few more, but I promise I’ll finish the report.

But since there’s already speculation, I will report one thing:

NO, I AM NOT PREGNANT.

There. I know a lot of people might have figured that because of the circumstances, so I had to clarify that. Some feel I give out too much information, so I’ll only say this: I did not take my vows pregnant. That was not why we did what we did.

Hi Allison

Congratulations! I wish you both well. Time goes by before you know it, always remember happiness is not a destination it is in the journey.

One of my favorite poems for you

“I love you neither with my heart
 nor with my mind.
My heart might stop
my mind can forget.
I love you with
my soul because
my soul never stops
 or forgets.

Ok, sorry everyone, I’m back.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I’m really touched.

Tammy, that was beautiful!

But I know this is what you’ve all been waiting for, so...

July 30, 2019

I Did: I went to Tijon Perfume with my mom and did another perfume making class. It was just me and my mom for a good reason....actually, two. One, my mom and I wanted to make a perfume for me to wear for the 31st, and we wanted to surprise my boyfriend. Two, and it was kind of bittersweet, but we wanted one last mother/daughter activity. We both cried when it was over. Afterward, we went back to the hotel and had dinner at the restaurant. I finished the day in the pool; I wanted to spend that time alone, thinking about my life and where I was going, but I needed someone to be there in case I had a seizure. Oh well.
I Ate: The ribs were so nice I had to have them twice!
I Bought: I got the perfume. ♥️
I Wore: I wore a crop top and my green cargo capris. I wore my bikini in the pool, of course.
I Thought: My last night as a spinster.....

Re: Trip Report II! - 08/09/2019 04:53 PM

Ok, here’s what you’ve been waiting for....

July 31, 2019

I Did: I GOT MARRIED...THAT’S WHAT I DID! Okay, okay, details. I got married outdoors. with just my parents and a few staff in attendance. I walked down a white carpet to 1,000 Years (Bella Swan also got married at my age, if you feel like wiping the dust off any Twilight DVDs). We took our vows under a white arbor with matching curtains. Palm trees and the beach were behind us. I’m nonreligious, so our officiant instead simply told our life’s stories and our story as a couple, with traditional vows. There was no reception afterward. That means no dances or speeches; we only wanted a ceremony and nothing more. We did have an early dinner at the hotel restaurant, with yours truly still in her wedding dress, so I guess that maybe turned a few heads and caused a few “What’s going ons?” After that, my parents took us to the southern end of Orient Beach for a few pictures, since that was the spot where he proposed to me. The four of us then returned to what was my boyfriend’s room, but what had become mine and my husbands‘ room, and celebrated the OTHER milestone of the day with birthday cake. Guess what else was waiting for us when we arrived in the room? CHAMPAGNE!
I Ate: I had angus beef filet for dinner and ice cream cake later in the day.
I Bought: The rest of my life!
I Wore: I wore my wedding dress (duh!)!!!!! Ok, that’s the short version. Here’s the long version. I woke up (alone for the last time) in my pajamas, showered, and got into my bridal robe. I put on my wedding dress about an hour before I walked down the aisle. Thanks, by the way, to those who called me beautiful. My dress covered both my shoulders and my arms, as the sun and my upper half don’t mix. As for my feet, I toyed with the idea of wearing white heels, but the last thing I wanted was to be miserable on my big day, so I decided to go barefoot. After we went to Orient, we changed into our “getaway outfits:” both my husband and I wore only waistbands that respectively read “Mr.” and “Mrs.” on the back, and stayed that way for the rest of the evening (except for the robes we obviously had to clothe ourselves in for the car ride back and the walk to our room).
I Thought: My state of mind changed throughout the day. In the morning, I was in a panic, thinking: Will it rain? Will it storm? Will he get cold feet? Will I get cold feet? Will I have a seizure? Of course, none of that happened. The afternoon I was thinking: OMG we’re married! I mainly had that on my mind for the rest of the day. I almost forgot that it was my birthday. I only thought two other things that day: “Oh yeah, it’s also my birthday.” (upon seeing the cake) and “There’s goosebumps on my butt.” (upon eating it).

Sounds like a perfect wedding in a perfect place. Hope you guys the same luck I've been able to have with my bride of 41 years. No matter what else happens, the bond of love will overcome them all. Marriage is NOT 50/50, it's 100/100 because both parties have to give 100% for it to work. Your avatar picture shows us all that you looked like, and I'm sure you felt like, a princess. What better way to spend your wedding day than naked on the Club Orient beach! Congratulations!!!!!!

Re: Trip Report II! - 08/09/2019 08:52 PM

OK I guess I misunderstood what exactly a waistband is. I thought that was a small strip of material that just surrounded the waist. I know that you had stated DD, Donald Duck not Dunkin' Donuts, before and I knew that was a shirt with no bottoms. But I am unfamiliar with the TMNT style other than, as I said, a small piece of material. If it's basically a sash, then for all intents and purposes you'd be, IMO, naked. Either way congratulations and enjoy the long road in front of you. Remember it's not the destination, it's the journey.

Yeah, it was just a sash I had around my waist that read “Mrs.” on it. You are right. That being said, last March, when we were on Orient Beach and he was getting down on one knee, displaying the ring, and popping the question, I was, indeed, 100% totally naked (aside from the earrings). How’s that for TMI? Lol

Okay.

Day 8

August 1, 2019

I Did: I went for a walk on the beach with my husband around ten in the morning. Unfortunately, that was all I was able to do that day, as I had a seizure on said beach. I spent the rest of the day in bed. Sorry, I know that’s not an exciting day, but it is a miserable experience.
I Ate: Nothing. Once I have a seizure, there’s no appetite for the rest of the day. It wouldn’t be the safest thing to do anyhow.
I Bought: Nothing. I was out of the room for less than two hours.
I Wore: For the walk on the beach, I wore a tee shirt and skirt, and was barefoot. Unfortunately, I got sand on everything during the seizure. But at least I got to spend the rest of the day in that brand new nightgown my mom got me.
I Thought: At least it wasn’t yesterday....

Hi Allison
Sorry to hear that you had a seizure.
I can imagine when it happens it puts a lots of stress on your body and must also be emotionally traumatic each time you have the experience.
Hope you are feeling better now and able to enjoy the rest of your sxm time.
Be well.

Thanks. I have one at least every couple of weeks so it wasn’t too surprising. My body just needs to reboot for the day after that, but I was back to normal the next morning.
