We are trying to get a second week in April and are doing the ongoing search option with RCI. We normally stay at Divi but to improve our chances at getting the second week we added Belair as another choice. Does anyone know what the rooms are like there? I know the beach and all but have never been inside.

All are two bedroom with one of them quite small. A fair size living room and dining area that is fine for four but would be smallish for six. The kitchen has no oven but is otherwise well equipped and has a toaster oven. Nice size balcony with good views. The property is old but well maintained with a nice Caribbean feel to it and a friendly, competent staff.

We are timeshare owners there. The one thing to note is each unit has 2 full baths. Yes, the second bedroom has a full size bed and is for sleeping only. Check their website for pictures of the units. Lisa

When we stayed there a few years back the second bedroom which is very small had two twin beds and they would not put them together for us.

The "trundle bed" set up was popular @ Belair for a while but they decided to go with standard double bed for 2nd BR.
It is small as was previously stated. Couch in living room does open up to accommodate 6 but we've never done that more than a couple days.
Best thing about Belair is that it is small compared to the other SXM resorts and staff is great.

Lisa and Tom,

If I'm not mistaken you are recently back from the Belair so I'm wondering if you heard anything while there regarding travelers checks. It's been reported here that Belair has said they will not be accepted after January and the big question for many is are they speaking for Belair and the businesses there, or the island in general. Any incite?

Happy to help.
Yes, we just got back from Belair. They actually made it known that they no longer accepted traveler's checks fairly early last year. They now have it posted at several locations on the premises. We stopped using them when our local bank stopped issuing them 2-3 years ago. Several other places in SXM have discontinued accepting them. I'm not certain but I think Grande Marche has also stopped accepting them.

Thank you, T & L,

We were on island in early December through the thirteenth and we did use TCs at LGM and GMGOURMET along with many other places including the Dunes and the Atlantis Casinos.

I still get my TCs easily and for free from my local bank and prefer to use them for carrying the major portion of cash while traveling, but not if we can't use them on island.

It sounds like there's no major change in their acceptance island wide and Belair's position is probably related to the resort and their financial institution of choice so I'm going to assume it's still a matter of which individual island banks the different establishments use until I hear otherwise. Again, TY.
