Sunset Cruise

Sunset Cruise - 03/03/2015 10:46 PM

My husband and I have been wanting to take the Sunset cruise for over 10 years. I chicken out every time because I have motion sickness. Can anyone tell me how the cruise is? Do you think I would get sick?

It depends on the weather. One day could be great and the very next day rough.

First try a cruise with Neil, a sponsor. He stays in the lagoon, which is less prone to rolling seas.
Then get some wrist bands. I am very prone to sea sickness and have been successfully using them for many years.

Would love to have him back as a sponsor, but Neil is not a sponsor at the moment. Passaat is the only sponsor we have right now that does sunset cruises.

I always thought that Aqua Mania was a sponsor but I see they are not. They have a nice Sunset cruise too.

And unless you want to do the timeshare tour and BS associated with it, they are no longer doing it for Flamingo or Royal Palm.

Another good thing ruined.

The Flamingo have always had the Monday night special priced sunset cruise for anybody that would pay for it directly to Aqua Mania. I and my guests never had to take any tour to go on it. Aqua Mania still has their regular Sunset Cruises.
If I remember right last year it was sponsored by Aqua Mania and you needed to book it directly through them.

Things change. Aqua Mania as of now is totally out of the booking process. You go through the activities/concierge desk at Royal Palm or Flamingo. If you happen to find anyone at the desk that is. I tried 2 times to talk to Aqua Mania. Like many things with these two resorts, you often get various stories as to what is going on but the sunset cruise for $15 is not currently happening. You either pay $35 now IF there is room or you do the 90+ minute t/s pitch to either get it for $15 or possibly no charge. The story we were given changed multiple times.

Trust me, I wasted 2+ hours on this the past week trying to get our group on just like we had done in the past.

Not sure if the current practice will continue but it is nothing like in the past.

I don't recall seeing many (IF any) people sick on any sunset cruise. Now, on a Regatta spectator boat that is out for a couple of hours and in pretty rough water. It is a different story.

I would highly suggest a sunset cruise on the Passaat. The listed rate is $39pp and includes drinks and snacks. You would have perhaps 20 people onboard (if that), unlike the bigger cats with 75 people.

Take some meclizine if you have concerns.

Then you haven't taken a cruise with my husband! He's tried 3 times (bracelet, meds) with no luck and now he says, "NO MORE!" Nothing like sunset in the Caribbean and all aboard belting out Jingle Bells to drown out ---well I won't say more.

Thank you all so much, I will probably pass. I got sick snorkeling by the reef, the water was a little rough.
