Flamingo owners association - 03/25/2015 12:40 AM

Just got an email from Flamingo that as of January 2015 they have formed an owners association. First meeting to be held June 4, 2015 at the Royal Palm. Not sure what time as it wasn't disclosed. Wouldn't ya know we fly out on that day at 2:30. If it's in the morning we can probably make it.

OK, since the meeting is at Royal Palm, I have to assume that it is Flamingo AND Royal Palm association?

No, I would not assume that it's for both. The email only addressed the Flamingo and the association is called the Flamingo Owners Association and NOT the Flamingo/Royal Palm Association. I'm guessing the Royal Palm will have its own separate one called the Royal Palm Owners Association. Maybe someone from the Royal Palm will chime in and post if they got a similar email addressing the Royal Palm Owners.

OK, just seems illogical to me that Flamingo "owners" would meet at Royal Palm.

And that makes sense.

Orginal contracts at Flamingo called for owners assoc. to be formed and take over. This was never done as per contracts. Diamond charged mgt. fee as agreeded to by assoc in reports to stock information. As of 1/1/2015 Mght company sold to Diamond as per Las Vegas news paper

Anyone believes that this soon-to-be-created Flamingo Owners Association will be empowered to control Diamond Resorts' Management and impact its plans and decisions?

I'm an owner there and although I would love to see an effective representation of the owners in the Management of the Resort, I have no illusion whatsoever on this point.

I also don't have any illusion whatsoever regarding an effective Timeshare Consumer Protection Law being enacted in SXM.

By the way, my own TS Contract makes no reference to an Owners Association. Mine is with Sunterra, previous owner of Flamingo, not with Diamond Resorts.

I'll have to dig mine out. All four of mine originated with Sunterra too.

Orginal contracts including pre construction are with Coastline Management NV Sunterra contracts never said anything including all contracts end on the last Sat or Sun of week 52 in the year 2081 Just some of the reasons Diamond will not give you a contract

TS owner associations are very ineffective , as was the Sapphire owner association which is now history !

Same at Pelican where it didn't prevent the debacle.
