Bistro Caribes.... Not the traditional preparation with them drowned in garlic butter but served in a small casserole with a creamy mushroom sauce. Lets you savor the flavor and a great flavor it is.

Le Cottage has a tasting platter of snails, prepared in parsley butter and also crusted in a garlic cream sauce. The two are great together.

Totally agree, their Escargot Bisque is something to die for. Traditional snails at their restaurant across the street, Ocean 82 are wonderful as well.

Oh, and my 78 year old Mother from Indiana had the Escargot Bisque, didn't tell her what it was or she wouldn't have tried it. Afterwards she told me "That was the best chewy mushroom soup I have ever tasted!" LOL

We had some in the shells with parsley butter at the Love Hotel in Grand Case and they were great.

Oddly, I've loved them everywhere I've tried them. la petit auberge? the boathouse and the Hideaway. all equally good, with rich, seasoned butters... hard to go wrong

We had the snails in the shell at Papagayo's. I would not recommend them.

It may be the more exotic way to serve them, but I hate dealing with those little devils. I'm always afraid I'll have a Julia Roberts/Pretty Woman moment ........ But without her charm and beauty!

And once again, IMHO, the 'BEST' anything is always such a personal thing. What I like and why is more about me than anything else so who's to say what the best really is and that we'll all have the same tastes?

While I'm not real keen on the setting, I love Lee's for its garlic butter basted grilled lobster, and yet many enjoy the same place but hate the grilled lobster there because of the garlic butter basting sauce.

But that said, I've never had escargot anywhere on the island that weren't yummy. Manger et profiter!!<img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

(I hate it when auto correct keeps changing my words......and if they do it again, c'est la vie!!) <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
