Solar and wind energy generation - 04/09/2015 11:47 AM
Have they ever been used on St Martin? Just wondered after seeing the recent article on energy in the carib.
Palm springs Ca has several thousand wind machines.
Every time I rent a charter boat at st martin its seems almost too windy.

I've never seen any, but it certainly seems to make sense. We've seen a proliferation of solar farms here in Eastern North Carolina in the past few years.

Solar panel are slowly coming to the island. Lees has quite a few. Really don't know why you don't see more, there is a 4 year payback. The only wind apparatuses I have seen are on the boats.

Yes, I've seen solar panels on the roofs of some buildings, but those are specific to those buildings. A wind or solar "farm" that creates electricity that is fed into the municipal power system is what I was referring to.

They were actually talking about trying to do a wind farm on the french side, not that long ago, including putting windmills on, I think, Tintamarre, among other places. Not sure what happened with it, as I have not heard anything about it recently.
