Sunset Cafe Grand Case - 04/11/2015 02:24 AM

Are reservations needed at Sunset Café Grand Case to watch the sunset and have drinks? Thinking about going on a Monday night in late April...thanks!

Unlikely. Dinner does start pretty early there, so it can't hurt to have a res.

Thanks...would we need reservations just for drinks though? Not planning to eat dinner there...

There's a bar there with bar stools and a few bar tables, so they sort of have a "dedicated" drinking area. Maybe it's SRO some nights, but walk-ups are welcome.

Yup. Almost always room at the (small) bar. I would think that if you are there specifically to see the sunset, you'd want to the out further where the view is better, which means you'd want a table. For that, I recommend a res.

If you flip through the pictures on Tripadvisor, you can get a sense of the layout; the bar is right by the entry. It's beachside, and the sunset is viewable from there, but the deeper in you go, the better the view.

I would order drinks and head up to the deck off the pool. They have a couple of benches there looking right at the show.

Thanks! Is SCGC within walking distance of Spiga?

Once a week (Thursday?), there's a welcome party so it will be more crowded on those days, typically. If you're staying at Grand Case Beach Club, you can go up to the pool to watch the sunset using your room key card to get in the gate. Otherwise, the pool area is locked. But you can walk on the boardwalk for several other great vantage points.

I believe they are re doing that pool area so not sure if part of it may be closed off.

Chantel and Alex have owned Sunset for at least five or six years.
They also own Cafe de Paris in the Marina Royale in Marigot.

Yes, we were staying at GCBC and went to dinner in the Marina only to find Chantal there. I immediately remembered we had not seen her at Sunset Cafe but didn't ask if they owned both or if she had left to start on her own. Thanks for the info that they own both. Had a great meal at Cafe Paris.
