President François Hollande to visit St. Martin

The Daily Herald has a story posted here about President François Hollande visiting St. Martin on May 8th. I am arrving on the same day. Was anyone on island in 2000 when Jacques Chirac visited St. Martin? I'm just curious how chaotic is might be.

We are too. Hope we don't have any trouble getting out of the airport.

I'm arriving on the 9th as well. But hoping that since he will be in "France" he will use their airport to continue his journey.

Seeing the runway at L'Espérance is 3,937 ft, I don't think he will be landing his A330 there. I do wonder how he will get to St Barths though.
