Day two done .... Another good one.

Day two done .... Another good one. - 04/21/2015 02:16 AM

Here we are with another lovely day under our belts - the same belts DHubby says may have to be let out a notch or two, and yet, we've been fairly conservative meal-wise. So far.....

This day started a little later than most of our island days and that wasn't a bad thing, for sure, but sadly, we missed our Monday orientation meeting. Oh well, it's not like we don't know the island, but going every once in a while does bring you up to speed on the newest, latest, and greatest island activities. Or not......

We enjoyed our typical morning repast here in the suite, the whole time eating spent debating where we should go today. So decision finally made and Mullet it is and Rosie's ribs for lunch - the plan is made! For now, anyway.

Showered and got dressed and by the time we were actually ready to leave it was 10:30 already and a very late start to a beach day for us. We headed out to the car and by the time we arrived at the turn off for Mullet, we made a hasty change of plans and decided on Simpson Bay Beach instead and being Boonies for the day. So much for big decisions and plans......but the Boon was a good choice.

We selected our chairs and surprisingly, we were one of the first couples in the 'free with meals' section. The young man tending the beach was busily engrossed in raking up and then burying the seaweed that had amassed overnight and boy! There was a lot of it! He set us up with not one but two umbrellas - I'm guessing my pasty white winter skin looked too susceptible to sun burns - and by midday we really appreciated his gesture.

Bang!! - at noon exactly my husband's tradesman lunch alarm went off. We hadn't even been in the water yet.....but when DH says it's time to eat, WE EAT. We were tasting their luscious lobster salad plates and how disappointed were we when Neelia told us no lobster today? I ended up with a pan-seared sesame crusted tuna salad plate and DH had a chicken salad plate. Neither one vaguely tasted like lobster but they were still enjoyable. About midway through our meal, Bob and Dot, TTOLers staying at the Boon, joined us and we spent some time reminiscing about days of yore here on the island and people and places we used to enjoy back in the day.

After lunch we resumed our prone positions on our lounges and enjoyed the music and the scenery for a bit and before we knew it, it was almost 4:00. The waves had gotten a little stronger and the end result - neither of us ever attempted to go into the water. Time to head back home to the Towers pool and happy hour, and Nat even had bananas for her yummy BBCs today. Ah, life is good.

Dinner at home tonight as neither of us felt like going out anywhere and it was pretty simple stuff but enjoyable. We sat out on our balcony for about an hour after dinner and watched the skies come alive with the stars and passing clouds along with the occasional landings and take offs at the airport. I didn't notice any ships going by tonight but then, I was enjoying my second glass of wine by then so anything's possible. Island life is really tough to take, but somebody's got to live it, so I guess it might as well be us!

And the good news for us - our entire day tomorrow is already planned with no room for last minute changes or decisions. Until tomorrow comes, that is........

Ahhhhh - so nice. Thanks for writing.

I've never been a Boonie for a day although one of my best dinners of the trip a couple of years ago was in their restaurant. I'll have to check it out during the daytime.

Ahhh....another good day. Next to Mullet Bay, Simpson Bay is a very close alternate choice.

Don't know this firsthand, but we were told the waves at Mullet were really slamming the beach - I'm not one who enjoys that so so we chose Simpson Bay thinking at worse case scenario, we could have our lobster salad plates. The Devils in the details, right? As it turned out we got neither but instead got to enjoy some quality chitchat with friends. I enjoyed the trade-off myself.

Hopefully the waves at Mullet will be a little better today. It seems calmer at BSV. The seaweed here seems better too!
There is a Giant ship coming in at the moment. It may be the only one, for those who want to shop today....

I saw that one too....a Norwegian? I guess it looks colorfully Caribbean but I thought it looked tacky. We're thinking Mullet today, too at some point! But then, we left here yesterday thinking Mullet and landed on Simpson - guess we zigged when we should have zagged! Maybe we will get to see you there.

The lobster salad is indeed memorable for both taste and the amount of time it took to get served. We were big fans of MBs but not so much on dining room service. There was never beach service but that was then and this is now. It is a lovely little resort with great views.

In the future we will have to consider revisting, thanks for the update Pat.

Karakter is next door to Mary's Boon. I have seen topless at MBs before. It's not the norm but there has been some during our six stays there. Having said that, we have not stayed at MBs for at least 6 years.

We saw that ship last month when we were there...and it is the Norweigan Getaway. Funny thing, last week my son and daughter n law were on it, and told us it was the most amazing ship they have ever been on!! Like they said, it's easy to spot while docked, and very difficult to make the mistake on getting on the wrong ship! smile

Enjoy day 3 4 and all the rest! Look forward to more reports
