Week one is done. That sure flew by!! - 04/25/2015 02:06 AM

Woke up this morning around 5:30 to discover that slugabug person who took over my being yesterday and the day before seems to have vanished, and that's a good thing, for sure.

The daybreak was nice but not nice enough to get excited over and waste a lot of words on.

I decided my DH deserved a full American breakfast this morning so I set the table, made the coffee, and at 7:00 we sat down to a full breakfast in. It actually was kind of pleasant and definitely a step up from coffee, toast and pastries that we usually enjoy here in the room.

At about 9:30 we started to head out to Mullet to check out the waves and seaweed status. And the good news - we could see plenty of seaweed and the discoloration it causes in the water out beyond the rocky point but not a blade on the beach, and though it wasn't nearly as calm as the other day, the water was very doable, even for me. The Towers chairman set us up with our free chairs and one of Rosie's big umbrellas and we were good for the day. We each had another huge order of ribs for lunch and ironically, we realized we were seated with the same couple from the other day. We must have chatted over lunch for the better part of an hour at least. They come every year weeks 15 and 16 so perhaps we'll bump into them again next year.

We left the beach and headed home about 3:00ish and while DH swapped out our beach towels, I made the PCs for consumption out on the shadier porch since we were about sunned out. We watched at least two huge cruise ship pull out of town and head by and given the somewhat overcast cloud condition today, they disappeared into the haze in no time. Around 7:00, just before we left for dinner, we watched another one leaving and even with all its evening lighting on, it disappeared into the haze in no time. We don't usually see this kind of haze this time of year.

Nappy time and showers done, and before we knew it, it was decision time again - where to go for dinner. So far we'd only been out for dinner a couple of times so we had to go out tonight, and we finally decided to wander up to Porto Cupecoy, knowing there are plenty of options there to choose from. We were both not really in the mood for a huge meal so we ended up at Le Bateau Ivre. John had a hot chicken dish served with sides and I had a yummy warm chicken Cesar salad that I washed down with a glass of Cote de Provence......a perfect meal. No apps, no desserts - just a nice light supper while we enjoyed the setting and the songstress. Service was good as was the food and my only complaint, as is so often the case, is the music should, IMO, be the backdrop for the evening as opposed to taking over and usurping the event. I kept thinking, if only I had a magical power switch to control the volume levels....but in the end it was all good, and here we are, home again, and about ready to call it a day. Or a night?

TY. I love to write so I'm enjoying sharing them and having people tag along but the problem is, the older we get and the more trips we make, the less excitement there is to our days. C'est la vie!!

Thanks for sharing Pat. Interesting how that sargasso seaweed is still showing up on the SXM beaches. We didn't see any of it on our recent travels to other islands. Hopefully by November it will have disappeared!

Enjoy week two and don't fight sand gravity!

Wish I had a window onto Mullet, so we could see the waves in the morning.

Enjoy!
