Pharmacy - 06/13/2015 10:58 PM

Looking for a pharmacy - open on Sunday. Need to get something strong for my wife for a tension headache that turned into a migraine. Went to Druggist on Simpson Bay and they gave her excedrin, which didn't touch it. Was hoping for an RX strength med without needing an RX. Appreciate your info and expertise. Thanks in advance.

The various Pharmacies alternate opening on Sundays. The one in Maho could be open if the Simpson bay one is closed. There are also two in Philipsburg.

There are actually six pharmacies open on Sunday on the Dutch side. Here is a picture of the hours of all the pharmacies on the Dutch side.

Paracetamol is normally what we be used. They come in 500mg tablets and you can take 2 to start. Don't take more than 6 a day though. Also, if she is also experiencing nausea, you could try Paracetamol 500mg / Metoclopramide 5mg tablets. Both of those would be available over the counter.

Edit: You could also ask them about Paracodol, which is 500 mg of Paracetamol and 8 mg of codine. Normally, in Europe and Canada it is available by just asking the pharmacist for it, however, I'm not sure how they handle that in SXM.

Thank you. Is paracetamol available in the U.S.? Never heard of it. She's ready to try anything at this point! Thx.

Paracetamol is tylenol, but in Eurpore is known as Paracetamol. It is made in higher doses than what tylenol would normally come in. If you start with 1000mg, it would normaly take care of pain associated with migraines. Excedrin is just 250mg asprin with 250 of tylenol with some caffine added. Even with taking 2 tablets, there isn't enough asprin or tylenol to deal with migraines. Just ask the pharamacist, but I'm pretty sure they are going to say Paracetamol, but I would inquire about the availability of Paracodol as well.
