Getting some rain this AM

Getting some rain this AM - 06/22/2015 01:06 PM

Loking out toward St Barts it has been pouring all morning - not that you can see St Barts at all.

Been misting at BSV but not rain yet. Looking toward toward Royal Palm, etc. appears that they are getting more, so it is coming this way.

Island needs the rain. Lot of dark clouds around, but the occassional blue patch also.

That's good - been looking a bit brown in pics I've seen lately. I also see on the webcam that the sand has washed out a bit at Maho exposing the rocks again.

Heavy downpour here, but only for a few minutes. Clouds indicate more to come.

It's coming DOWN here at the moment! Just had to close the sliders from rain coming in.. We were headed over to Orient this morning to take some pictures, but not right this minute, as if it's raining over there like here, they won't be working anyway!

The island is INCREDIBLY brown. I personally don't remember ever seeing it this brown..

When we were there the end of April into very early May they hadn't had any serious rain in ages and the brown burned grasses and shrubbery were sad to look at. And coupled with it was the volcanic ash that made the sky literally gray and vague. We never saw Saba but once over the almost three weeks we were there, and the one day we did, it was only a vague image in the ocean but had we not known it was there, we probably would have completely missed it. Is the ash still an issue? For everyone's sake, I surely hope NOT.

I think the ash is still around, but not horrible. The sky has been hazy, but not grey.

When we were there a week ago, we thought the island was as brown as it has been in 20 years. The hills around Orient seem especially bad.

Some folks were heading back down the beach, a bit too late this morning!!! Royal Palm/Flamingo/etc in the distance, but you basically can't see them! Rain is blowing up on the sliding glass door in front here. We have packed a bit this morning, since we go home tomorrow. Guess I will sit down to read a book and will probably have to turn the light on! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Shocked.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, I'm fine with it. The island is so brown. I do feel sorry for those people coming in on a ship today though. It looks a little lighter over at Orient. We may try to head over there after a while.

The dust is from The Sahara Desert.

My apologies for the misspeak.

I knew what it was (not volcanic ash) and where it was from. Guess I needed another cup of coffee before I put my thoughts into print earlier........ <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

So now that we've established the Sahara sands, what's the story with the Sargasso seaweed..... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

We have been here when it has been raining and today while it was raining we didn't feel bad at all because we knew they needed it. It is the most brown I have seen it in our trips here. Last year it poured and at that time they didn't need it. Now it is just a spit in the bucket and they need more. I would give up a couple of days if it helps the island we love!
