Jet Blue website problem

Jet Blue website problem - 07/22/2015 07:59 PM

I have been messing around all day trying to book flights to SXM. Their website is seriously f*ed up. I finally was able to book a one way with cash, tried to book the other way with points, and the website had a total brain f$rt. Got a person on the phone, who was a total idiot and tried to charge me $215 PLUS points for the flight. Then she proceeded to tell me that the points for the flight had gone up 2000 points while I was on the phone with her, so they couldn't honor the price. Got a supervisor, who cleared that up, and then proceeded to tell me that the taxes were $5 more than what it's showing on their website. I had had it at that point and told her to cancel the whole thing...

Update--I called again this evening and was able to get them to honor the price which shows up on the website. They had to issue me a credit and then apply it toward the booking, in order to do so, but at least they honored the price on their website. I spent a lot of time over $5, but the thing just p*ssed me off, as Jet Blue has already screwed me over a couple of times in the past..

By the way, there is a KNOWN PROBLEM with the website, as far as Jet Blue is concerned, according to the (much more helpful) person I talked to this evening. If you try to book a one way ticket from SXM (or anywhere else outside the country, I presume) you will NOT be able to use a credit card that has a US address. The system will ALWAYS decline your credit card.

Carol, I had the same problem about 9 days ago when I tried to book a return flight from SXM to USA as it rejected my Jet Blue American Express Card for payment. I then called Jet Blue and the girl on the line was very nice and took care of the booking and told me that they were having problems with the online bookings.
I think when they started the new system with 3 tier classes, someone screwed up the system.

Re: Jet Blue website problem - 07/23/2015 12:49 AM

it must be a problem since the new pricing and website went up, as we booking our upcoming Nov trip the same way (points there / dollars home)back in Mar and they took our JB Amex for the one way home, NP. Got to love the new and improved JB... not really,.. rather disappointed as they are now just one another airline

Yup, they are just another airline, but an airline with a messed up website at the moment. The agent this evening readily admitted that the problem I experienced with trying to pay was a known issue with their website. The screwup with how much the taxes are supposed to be was just an aggravation on top.

Nice work by JB screwing up their fare structure and now their website. I have two upcoming flights booked before the changes. One to Las Vegas and one to SXM....both departures and returns were booked as one way flights with no problem.

Guess they fixed that potential now

Sorry you had such a problem. They had great customer service when I called a few weeks back, when their problem started.
I think it is always a good idea to say good-by and call back---worked with AA too. (If you don't mind waiting!)

I'm not sure what is meant by your last comment. We also have a trip that was booked prior to the changes going into place and the only problem I can see is that we can't personally change our seats if of a mind to.

Are you saying that with regard to purchasing one-way tickets, this is no longer an option? I can't imagine that would be the case but since the return dates I'm interested in aren't available yet I guess I'll have to wait and see.

The CSR I spoke with a couple of weeks ago when I first noticed the problems was totally helpful and couldn't have been more pleasant as she made the changes and assured me there would be no charge for phone bookings until the problems were corrected within their system. Perhaps with all the glitches still in place that's changed and they've lost their sense of humor?!

Pat you can still buy one way tickets, but right now... if you are trying to buy a one way from SXM to the US, basically you cannot buy it online. Assume it is the same with any other departure point outside of the US.

The online system will not accept a US address for your credit card if the departure is outside of the US. You have to call to make the one way booking.

Guess I should have said, yes you can enter the US address in all of the fields, but the credit card will never be approved.... silly error message about something went wrong.

Re: Jet Blue website problem - 07/23/2015 12:26 PM

Whoever those people are who designed the current website certainly got overpaid!!! Don't know if it's still a problem or not, but all day yesterday, once you logged in to True Blue, then you couldn't do ANYTHING. The only way I got the first ticket booked online was to find the flight I wanted and THEN log in.

Re: Jet Blue website problem - 07/23/2015 12:29 PM

A totally US flight should still be no problem. The problem is that at present you can't book a one way international flight from outside the country using a US credit card ONLINE. You have to call them and have them do it on the phone. And as in my case, potentially they tell you the fare has gone up, or it's more points, or the taxes aren't what it shows online. The first time I called, the supervisor I was eventually routed to just said it wasn't their problem, they couldn't do anything about the taxes, which didn't set well. The second time I called the person wasn't a supervisor as far as I know, but she understood the issue and worked until she fixed it. The SECOND person did provide good customer service.

It turns out we also had an issue with their website, which only applied $13 out of a $269 credit towards our upcoming trip. While it did take over an hour to resolve today, the phone reps were helpful, and never once implied I may have screwed up.

My self inflicted worry is that we have a 38 minute connection in JFK, which could cost us a day for a missed connection. But, the fare differential was $250 for the 2 of us (one way), so it's a risk we're willing to accept.

Glad you got your situation resolved over the phone, but these website issues seem really severe..

Hope things go great on your connection!

Re: Jet Blue website problem - 07/30/2015 08:29 PM

...and their website is still f*ed up. Was trying to do some stuff with my itinerary today and the website showed that they had charged my credit card twice for the paid ticket!! Checked with the credit card company and no, it had only been charged once. But I still can't put in contact information, etc. Tried to call and of course their call center is way overwhelmed, so I hung up. They need to get their website fixed...

They're pathetic right now......but gimme a break!

Did the people who developed our healthcare website do the JB site, too? It's totally screwed up and so much so, half the time I can't even log in let alone accomplish doing anything.

Re: Jet Blue website problem - 07/31/2015 11:50 AM

I haven't had the same level of problems, but they keep emailing me my itinerary. Naturally, I assume there has been some kind of change (or problem) but, thankfully, so far, nothing.

Re: Jet Blue website problem - 07/31/2015 02:33 PM

I flew down JB on Tuesday using a ticket from before the fare/ agave changes. When I tried to check in online it would not let me get to the baggage part so I could put in the additional bags I had. I tried over & over, cancelled the check in & started fresh but nada. I called & the rep was very nice but neither she lr her supervisor could figure out why every time during the check in it would skip right over the baggage part. They thought because of the new policy but I said people still have bags & it costs less to do the bags online as opposed to at the airport. Anyway they were very nice gave me a $15.00 voucher for having to pay more at the airport but did readily admit they are having many, many issues since the new policies.

Re: Jet Blue website problem - 07/31/2015 02:37 PM

I don't know, they really need to get that website fixed!! Presumably they will get their crap together by March, but I'm glad now I paid for a bag each way. It is technically cheaper to pay for the bag when you buy the ticket, versus later on, I think? I decided, going by myself, I would definitely have to check a bag, so just paid for it both ways up front. I will see how things go here today, still need to call them about putting in my travel details.

Bookingsites have reached the critical point now where they are writing algorithms to fix the existing algorithms. LOL :-)
