It was published in today's Daily Herald but with very few details. I'm hoping there will be updates from someone on island with specific facts. Our beloved island........so sad! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

So sad indeed. It is getting concerning! The good people of the island don't need their lives disrupted this way!

I think it's way past time for the police to stop illegals and illegal guns getting onto the island. There aren't enough jobs for people who are living there legally never mind all the illegal people from other islands, Also the police need to, imho, put a stop to car break-ins - this kind of very common behaviour that goes unpunished can escalate into more serious stuff like armed robberies.

Easier said than done. We can't do it in the States so how is a third world country going to do it?

Yes, I agree with you, Moxie. Criminals who get away with minor crimes often become brazen, and then proceed to more serious crimes. These robberies and shootings are indeed concerning.

St. Maarten certainly isn't a third world country.

Take your blinders off and get out of the resort areas.

If they don't have a legal system for prosecution and jailing of the heinous crimes, I agree with taking them out on a dinghy in the middle of the ocean (preferably at night), I would even give them the drugs they were caught with, and set the dinghy free.

OK, well, this thread is providing absolutely nothing constructive in the conversation.
