Mullet Bay Beach

We are arriving in October. I know things change in an instant but can anyone tell me about mullet bay beach. Have heard there was a big drop on sand to water. Thank you.

Who knows what it will be like by October???? Mullet changes all the time, BUT it seems like for the past few months, there has been a pretty consistent cliff there, through around July or so, although haven't heard since then. Erika could well rearrange some sand too.

Mullet is and has always been my very favorite beach on the island - but as you already know, its topography changes constantly at the whim of M.N..

When we were last there in April we checked out the beach one morning from out balcony and it looked like it was near perfect - deep/wide and flat with no sandcliff that we could see. And once we got there and got settled into our chairs we realized there was also no drop off 4-5' into the water as so often happens on so many of the island beaches including Mullet, and to top it all off, calm and gentle waters to make it near perfect for me. It was like that for two or three days in a row. The next morning it was starting to look a little iffy but we had errands to do and by the time we came back in the early afternoon, the sandcliff was back as were the strong waves, and it remained that way for most of the rest of our stay. But the good news is Rosies and DaLeo's are there daily, weather permitting, so you can almost always get chairs and umbrellas as well as good beach food even if you can't access the water easily. Some days we go for lunch and a beach read and enjoy the beach as a people watching venue. It's amazing sometimes just to spend time watching some of the antics people go through......

My personal pet peeve at Mullet is I'm often amazed at how, when there's a huge and mostly unoccupied beach to enjoy once you get beyond the chair rental and food stand area, some will drag their chairs or towels and blankets and plop right on top of you, sometimes with radios, etc. and well within whispering distance. That's one thing I'll never get about basic beach etiquette, but that's me and perhaps others don't find it nearly as annoying.... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

Mullet is one of our favorite beaches as well. M.N. does make a visit to Mullet interesting.

Pat- that is my pet peeve too! After spending a lot of time at the Jersey shore we appreciate the opportunity to have some distance from our neighbors. We tend to walk a ways down the beach. Sometimes trudging a ways in the hot sun is tough but I remind myself that the exercise is good as I am carrying a platter of chicken, fries and a blender drink from Rosie's.
