This is a thing beauty..

Last month, while on the island, we took a boat trip to AXA departing from the lagoon and in doing so, we passed the Jobs boat which was docked there at the time. From the particular perspective we had sitting on a cat down in the water, for just a couple of moments, we thought at first it was a huge new modern warehouse built along the docks. It went on and on seemingly forever, and as we came around and saw the entire thing and realized it was actually a private yacht (and were told which yacht and who it was actually built for....) we were in absolute awe of the size and scope of this boat. Fortunately for all of us, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To me, this is one of the ugliest boats ever built.

When I first glanced at it I thought that was a building-can't believe it went through the bridge and managed to turn around in the lagoon- you'd think that it would have swiped out all the other boats.

I agree Dave, look's like an Icebreaker gone wrong ...

At first glance, I thought it was a Frank L Wright house on water.
I've been lucky to see and visit several of his creations from Bartlesville,OK to Manchester, NH. They do grow on you after you learn his reasoning.
Not sure I will ever understand the design of this ship. Plus I use Apple products and figure I should get a free ride, ha ha. However, it was a fine person piloting it thru the bridge opening.

I guess beauty truly does lie in the eyes of the beholder.

I thought the shape 'interesting' and along the lines of the old Norway which we loved as opposed to the more current trend in ocean liners and some megayachts we've seen. The glistening chrome against the stark whiteness was unique, too.

I thought the same when we got up close to it. I think because it looks so different from the other beautiful yachts, that it does get your attention, but not in a good way.Sadly Steve passed away before he could enjoy it.

Not my idea of a good looking yacht but still is an attention getter. It is less than half the length of Eclipse which is usually in the SXM area at this time. Limitless which is 50 feet longer than Venus is presently docked on the lagoon side.

It looks like a low slung building that floated out to sea.Every time we see it we wonder what was in the builders mind? Just plain ugly.

I have nothing against people being hideously rich.

What they do with their money is only my business when it comes up on my horizon.

When they build beautiful sailing yachts I love it.

If they must out an engine on a pleasure boat, why not, I do find most motor yachts ugly.

As far as floating a white rectangular shaped object, it does hurt my eyes...

It seems obvious that Jobs did not design his products alone or we would never have bought them ...

My hubby thought it was a barge.

Venus has a Beam of 11.8 m, Simpson bay Bridge is 16.75 m wide. Therefore it leaves 5 m, or 2.5 m on each side.

As you can see on the video, Venus uses Bow propellers to correct its course.

No great achievement, especially that I suspect that Venus has side radars to calculate and fire off Bow propellers.

I was more impressed with the freighter that took the swing bridge span thru, that was inches and I don't recall crew members running around with fenders "just in case". I don't much like the look of the Venus, here are a couple of oldie but goodies that I had the pleasure of working with, check them out on Google: USCGC Tamaroa, the one that actually was in the perfect storm and the USCGC Ascushnet, the "Queen of the fleet"

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I think he (they) went for "different". Actually, it should have been a rounded rectangle like everything else Apple has done for 20 years.
