We are arriving on Thursday and want to know if the mosquitoes are a nuisance this year. Should we bring deet?

We are going to St. Martin and curious about the prevalence of mosquitoes. Anyone there right now?

OK, lots of mosquitoes recently, because there has been lots of rain. Yes, deet is a good idea, if you are prone to mosquito bites.

We are on island right now. Depends on which area you are staying. Mosquitoes have not been a big problem where we stay in Dawn Beach/Oyster Pond area. Better than other years. The last 3 days we have experienced quite a few showers so the situation could change.

We are at Simpson Bay Resort. Only arrived yesterday but only saw one mosquito. Our pregnant daughter cancelled her trip because of Zeka but the locals we have talked to are not concerned. I still think she made the right decision. Any risk that can be avoided is the right decision.

They are there. The mosquito milk (tropical) sold on the island works very well & doesn't smell so bad.

Just spent 5 nights in Simpson bay, very few insects at all. Prior 9 nights at Oyster bay was another story. Lots of mosquitoes and sand fleas and sea lice from the seaweed. Landscape has a lot to do with it, I'm sure.

I wouldn't risk it if my guest were pregnant, heck even planning it soon. Zika does very bad stuff to babies! The rate of birth defects in babies made a rise from 400 in 2007 to 28,000 last year. Scary stuff!

Just returned from Orient area, least amount of mosquitos we have seen.
