Are the stores on Front Street open at night? Thanks.

No. They usually start closing shop for the most part by five - five-thirty and by six, the street is mostly shuttered save for the casinos, restaurants and watering holes. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

And while I know you specified Front Street, most of the shops at Maho are open most evenings to accommodate the dinner and casino goers. There used to be some around the marina area in Marigot that opened at night in the past but I think they are mostly closed these days. If anyone knows better than I about this particular area I'm sure they'll chime in, and perhaps they can speak to the shops in Grand Case as well.

Best to go Phillpsburg when the least Cruise Ships are in port.

We always go to Phillipsburg when there is the least amount of cruisers around. Not as many hawkers in the street, shops and restaurants less crowded and the diamond merchants (she does love her diamonds) are more willing to deal.

We hate Phillipsburg when the cruise ships are in no dealing on prices and very crowded depending on how many ships are in port

I'm with Scubaman and have learned over the years we prefer the days with the most ships in town. Most cruisers are loaded onto buses and taxis and off to other areas of SXM. Parking is easy to find as so many land based tourists stay away. We only shop at a few stores that we go to every year and then have lunch. Plus it is fun people watching and listening to their chatter for those that stay in town.

I agree. Only go to Philipsburg when the cruise ships are in. Otherwise, very boring.
