Day 3/4 Report from Divi

Day 3/4 Report from Divi - 03/14/2016 02:22 PM

Well the weather is not cooperating. Yesterday it was off and on showers till around noon and today it is overcast and rainy. So if it stays this way, might end up being a shopping day.
Dinner last night was at IZI's. Excellent meal as usual. Tonight probably somewhere over in Maho area.
Leroy(longtime Divi bartender) was telling me that the Regatta will no longer be held on SXM, moving to St. Kitts next year, as the government here failed to back it.<img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

Can I ask you what you eat at Izi? My husband and I have been there twice. Both times, we were largely UNIMPRESSED with the food. It was okay but not excellent.
Both times we have had pasta. But I keep hearing that people love it and we just don't understand why.

I would say that Leroy is probably incorrect regarding Regatta moving to St Kitts. He is correct that the government reneged on promises to pay toward Regatta for this year. They will need to get more corporate sponsors moving forward, if it is to continue in SXM though.

The 3 of us had the nightly specials , I had the risotto with scallops, mushrooms and black truffles, my wife had veal saltimboca and her daughter had the branzini(fish).

I recently ate at Izi twice and had pasta with two different sauces. I personally like the parma ham cappelletti with either the mushroom sauce or the carbonara sauce. Decent wine selection and service is always good. Another diner said his spaghetti and meal balls were the best he had ever had.

It is not for everyone as people seem hot or cold on Izi but I personally enjoy it. We had about 10 people there one night and everyone enjoyed their meals.

Decent wine selection???? So, when we went there, we saw white, red and rose wine listed on their menu. And no wine list was given to us. Personally, I hate when menus only have the types of wine listed with no acknowledgement of what it is. I don't want to have to ask either (although I did).

No need to get worked up, either you like Izi or you don't. If you don't care for it, find another place to go.

They do have a separate wine list. If it was not presented at the table one should ask. I have ordered by the glass and also by the bottle. This trip I ordered off the regular menu and by the glass.

From their website: wine list

I asked the waiter for the wine list and he showed me the list of three types of wine on their menu. White, red and rose.
Just bad luck I guess on our part. We definitely prefer Tutta Pasta.

We ate there twice and wondered why we returned that 2nd time because it was worse than the first. I thought their sauce tasted like Campbell's tomato soup.

Add my name to the list. I've tried Izi twice. Not great food. Tutta Pasta much better
