Thursday in Paradise

Thursday in Paradise - 03/18/2016 05:05 PM

We started the day as usual with coffee then breakfast on the lanai. Headed to Zafir to check it out. Had a drink and a tour of the units. $250 per night, nice but small. Extensive menu with reasonable priced full entrees $12-20 fish, pasta, sandwiches , drinks.

Headed on to Maho for a swimsuit---thought I'd packed 2 but one must have been left on the bed at home. Found nothing for fat a%$ed women, just skimpy bikinis. On to Blue Mall. Not only were there no bathing suits to be seen but no people as well. I can't imagine that place will continue to exist.

Was supposed to go to GC for dinner at the restaurant that replaced L'Estimenet but plans have moved to next week. Instead we dined at Bateau Ivre. The taste, presentation, service, quite good but prices very high. Noticed another place in that complex named Shanghai Brasserie. Not just Chinese enters but European as well. Peeked inside. Decor 1930's and beautiful. We may return to try it. All restaurants there are expensive. The rent there must be very high.

Went to bed before 11 and we were awakened around mid night to loud booms. Looked out the lanai and saw fireworks across Great Bay. Enjoyed it greatly, but would like to have know about it ahead instead of being awakened from a sound sleep thinking they were firing the cannon from the fort.

Friday plan to go to Lagoonies for fish. But seems our plans always change.

TY for sharing your trip with those of us here at home and aching to be there.

I don't know how Puerto Cupecoy manages to keep renting their spaces. Seems that between the lack of traffic and the high prices of merchandise and foods the place is a disaster. And it could be such a nice place.....

We enjoyed El Zafiro in December when the menu consisted of 4-5 offerings so good to learn their kitchen is fully fuctioning now.

Keep on having fun....... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

If you go to Lagoonies, please let us know how it was. Our plans changed also on our last visit and we were unable to meet up with friends who went. They were disappointed that the price had gone up and the quantity down.

Headed on to Maho for a swimsuit

Try Endless Summer - 2 locations, one is near the bridge in Simpson Bay [ocean side of the road?], the other on Front St in P'burg - not sure where that one is

$250 a night for those units seems a bit stiff to me.

Interesting, wonder what the fireworks were for!!

And plans, on SXM, at any rate, are made to be broken!

Carol,

I'm guessing St Paddy's Day. Beautiful show that started near 11:30 and ended at 11:45, rather late. First time I've ever seen fireworks during Week 11.

Our Divi balcony overlooks Great Bay, so we had a first class viewing.

I had been watching March Madness and dosed off on the couch, when the first ones went off I thought I was back in the asian jungle and was being fire bombed. Wife had gone to the bedroom and thought the people below were dragging luggage around. Oh, what the mind does when one is rudely awakened. We laughed and enjoyed the show.

Wow, I'd rather think what your wife did than what you did!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" /> Glad you had a good show though!
