There is a new app called Mobile passport that you can use at MIA. We used it when we arrived from SXM on Friday and we made it through customs in 15-20 minutes.

It's only available at a few airports. There is no cost like Global entry and it was great!

maybe new to you, it's been around since 2014. We travel a lot, sometimes it works better then other times.

I am glad the app worked for you guys. I tried the app in MIA and it did not work for me. I questioned the immigration officer at the booth and he told me I had one of those names that would have to be cleared every time. I have a very common first and last name. He said the app would never work for me and I would always get an X at the kiosk. He told me the only alternative I had was global entry. I now have GE.

That's interesting--'always get an X at the kiosk'?? That is based on your name??? As Eric always seems to get an x at the kiosk and I don't. I thought it was based on how good the picture was of you..

We were the same way. I always got the X and my wife did not. I never thought to ask why until the app did not work. Eric might ask the immigration agent next time to see if there is something that is causing it to happen.

I don't know, I would think MY name, Carol, is a much more common name than Eric. I do remember a couple of years ago, immigration agents were always asking him whether he had ever lived in North Carolina, I think it was, so there was something flagged about his name, at least for a while. But this time, coming back through SJU, I was given a verbal third degree. Not sure why, other than I guess a woman is not supposed to travel to a vacation destination alone! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />
