Beachside Villas - 04/13/2016 05:42 PM

Hubby and I are thinking about heading down to Sxm and we're looking at The Beachside Villas. Any thoughts or opinions on the villas would be welcome!

Great place/location! But book early as they fill up fast!! We had a hard time getting in this trip and I started asking late summer/early fall? We love it there!

Is there a lot of noise from the planes? Are all the units nice? We usually stay in the Pelican key area.

As far as noise from the planes, the big planes pretty much all come in the afternoon. It is noisy for 30 seconds, and then nothing. It's not like JFK, where there are huge jets every 30 seconds, all day and night. There are maybe a dozen to a half dozen big planes throughout the whole day.

As far as whether the units are "nice" or not, take a look at the trip report that I posted in my other reply in the thread. BSV is NOT deluxe, as in marble or granite in the kitchen or bathroom. There is NO a/c in the main living room, just in the bedrooms. To me, it is like having your own beach house, ON one of the best beaches on the island, totally uncrowded and with your own private beach, any time you want it. You have your own full kitchen and BBQ grill and patio, so that you can be perfectly 'at home'. It is NOT a 'resort', from the standpoint of any organized activities, etc., etc,. It has exactly what I want when I am on vacation. I don't need anyone to entertain me, I just want the sand and the sea and an unfettered view of the ocean and several good books. Your mileage may vary.

Love them, would recommend highly. Right on the beach, all the comforts you would need and more. They think of everything. Grounds are well kept and you can't get much closer to the beach. Search the SXM Trip reports. I've posted a lot of detailed reports on BSV.

If you have any specific questions I'll be glad to answer as I'm sure so with the others who have stayed there.

One more who stayed at BSV and loved it. I don't know if it would be great if you really need the more resort-like atmosphere as in bell boys, concierge and service staff to help you with questions but if you're at all an independent traveler and like a beachside accommodation, this is an awesome spot, for sure. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

We are pretty independent travellers and are able to entertain ourselves with no problem. Sounds like it may be a good fit for us! Thank you to all for your feedback!
