Grandcase beach club - 06/13/2016 04:58 PM

Info on one bed units vs. studio units. Really looking for 2nd floor with balcony ocean front. Dont think they can guaranty you a room of choice when booking on expedia, orbitz etc.

We stayed in a studio with loft and loved it but the only downside, for us anyway, was it was waaaay too hot to enjoy the deck/porch/balcony (or whatever else you might call it....) during most of the day. It was delightful in the morning and very late afternoon through sunset but it was killer hot during the day. But if we were to return, that is definitely the type of unit I'd book. The other downside to these units is the bathroom being on the main level - great during the daytime but a nuisance at night having to traverse the stairs to get there.

When we went, we booked directly through GCBC at better pricing than we could find anywhere else and they were able to assure us of our room selection and they threw in some extras the other sites didn't offer.

I think it's one of the nicest resorts on St. Martin. Enjoy! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

Haven't found anyone giving discounts on the prices posted on CGBC's website.

We have only stayed in the studio which has a full kitchen, eating area, bathroom, king bed, balcony with outside loungers. That was after staying a week in a 1BR at Divi and we didn't feel crowded at all. We never really cooked but we used the large fridge for drinks & fruit. Since breakfast's included with the room, we ate bread, cheese, fruit wine for lunch or food from the LOLOs or leftovers from the dining out the night before.

No they can't guarantee you anything on room except # of beds due to inventory they have since units are privately owned and not all are always available. But if you ask nicely if you choice is available they will try to get it for you.

Hubby had an operation and couldn't take stairs and all they had was 2nd floor (maybe this is an indication you have a better shot at a 2nd?) so they upgraded us from a studio since they had no 1st floor ones available.

After several years staying there we tried the garden units and found them to be roomier plus we didn't have the sun burning in all day making the balcony mostly unusable. Strange but we booked there for 2017 while we were staying elsewhere on island this year and they said no garden unit available for our time request.

One bedrooms are available on the 2nd floor and studio lofts on the 3rd floor. There are some 2 story 1BR on the second floor of building 7, which offer 2 balconies and all the spaciousness of a 1BR. I'm not a big fan of the studio lofts because I don't like the 3rd floor, but that's a personal problem. Also, the upstairs sleeping area does not have a toilette and negotiating the stairs at night requires more wakefulness than I prefer to provide. There is a secret to directing the vents on the ac to provide cooling to the upper level, but the ac works. Also, the sleeping area isn't full floor and you do have a sloping ceiling that makes the room seem smaller.

During the low season, I think the price delta is $15 between the 2 units, so I would chose 1BR every time. The only reason we took the loft one year was that 1BRs were sold out.

Always book directly with the hotel if you can.
...any hotel, not just GCBC.

We stay in a garden unit when we good. Cool and private.

Thanks everyone for all the info. It actually looks like they are all booked up. May look into a villa or privately owned condo, if anyone has any ideas please let us know, thanks

We've never stayed in a loft ---always stay in a studio either 1st or 2nd floor and it's more than adequate.

First post here, but I recently booked into Jolie Beach apartments in Grand Case. They have upper units, as well as ground floor units, available through their website, VRBO and airbnb. I think it appears to be a 4plex. Prices seem very fair given the high reviews.

Hi. Welcome to the forum. I'm not sure what your post has to do with Grandcase Beach Club? Do you have a question about Jolie Beach apartments?

I'm sorry - I was attempting to send as a reply to his inquiry about suggestions for privately owned accommodations in the area. I can delete.

It might be worth giving them a ring. I never trust any website 100%.

We were there from 6/4 to 6/11. When we came home we wanted to book it again and on the web, said nothing available. We wrote them directly and now are going back on Dec 3rd. They will work with you ....
