I'm thinking of switching from CaribServe (awful) to TelEm. Can I (like with CaribServe) get TelEm suspended while I'm off island? Also, do I need to buy a router and/or modem? Thanks a bunch

Telem is much better that Caribserve. You would need a telephone line and they also offer promo: free connection and wifi modem.

Thanks Julius but I'm asking if I can suspend service since I come and go for several months at a time so I don't want to pay for service when I'm not here.

Maybe you should call them and find out.

Yes you can suspend service & I have several friends at Royal Palm who do so every year. I have Caribserve in my store & Telnet DSL in my home & without doubt the DSL is much better, however you do need a phone line for the DSL which adds to the cost of the Internet with a basic charge (no use) for the phone line around $25-$30 per month.

Thanks Sharon. I'm hooked up. Yes, I can suspend. I'm paying $52/month with a phone line and internet. I can receive calls free but if I want to make calls, I have to buy a card (similar to Chippie) but the card only lasts 30 days. TelNet is light years above CaribServe.

We rented a modem from Business Point in Simpson Bay for our boat. The speed is excellent, streaming without interruption right now.
