Confusion on Dutch side rental tax rate

Confusion on Dutch side rental tax rate - 11/01/2016 04:54 PM

I am in the process of getting prices for a car rental for Feb. 2017. One rental agent says the tax on a rental is 10% and one says it's 18%. These are agencies on the Dutch side.
Would you please help me with the correct tax rate? It will be a 3 week rental.
Thanks so much.

They all charge different rates and they are not going to change what they charge for taxes, based on any objection you pose. I THINK that 10% is the correct rate, but as I have said here before, ask for a quote with taxes and whatever insurance you are getting from them, get a total cost, and compare that total cost straight up, and go with whichever company you want. Don't try to figure it out.

I also think the correct tax rate is 10%. Some rental companies increase the tax rate to increase their profit. Same with liability insurance coverage. One company will charge $5/day, another may charge $10/day. As stated, decision should be based on all up all in.
