Dreams Beach Bar Restaurant

The countdown is on....arriving Saturday to SXM...on previous visits never made it to Dreams Beach Bar....I think I know the location .....now the question. If we would go around 11am,,,to take in some sun,,,then eat,,,is it appropriate to just wear cover up while dining? Or is it better to go later afternoon,,,for a nice meal and leave the bathing suits and coverups at home. I just have no idea what is the most enjoyable way to experience Dreams. Any feedback would be awesome, as I really do want to experience it this visit. (if I drive out past Saphire Beach Club,,,and follow the road towards Marigot,,,I assume there will be signs to enter on the left? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" />

Coverup is fine, it is a beach restaurant. You can eat in the "dining area" or by the beach bar which is literally steps away from beach cabanas. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" /> bon appetite!

There are several places to eat there. You have the main restaurant, where a cover up is probably a little under-dressed. However, you can eat at your chair if you like OR there are several wooden kind of tables off to the side of the restaurant where I personally would feel comfortable dining with a cover up on. I personally would not want to eat a meal there at my chair, because I feel the food is too good to not give the meal more attention. Of course you don't have to have an elaborate meal there, as they have pizza and burgers, etc. So it depends on what you want. If you want to go for the day, you can certainly do that, and I would dine at one of the wooden tables.

Or you can go for dinner, but I would not necessarily count on eating 'late afternoon'. They do close the kitchen for a couple of hours around 4 to 5, something like that, and they are not open in the evening every night, I don't think. You should check with them on that.

I think you are spot on with your directions and perception of the location. Once you go through Maho, Mullet and Cupecoy areas, stay on the same main road and it will be in the Nettle Baie area on the left. It and LeSand both have good sized signs so not to worry - no way can you miss it.

It is a beach bar and also a very nice restaurant where many besides yourself will be dressed in swimsuits and cover-ups along with many area business people who come just for lunch and will be more dressed up - pity them!! We usually make a full day of it when we go even though we go primarily for the food and the idea of dining there. We've eaten in the main restaurant as well as the outside, more casual areas, and a nice cover-up is perfectly appropriate in either. On a Sunday, when the crowd is a little more local and mostly come just for lunch and not the beach, you might want to be a little more dressed for the main dining room.

I wear a cover up in the main dining room if there for the day on the beach. My cover-up more resembles a sundress and not just a sarong so I feel quite comfortable. I agree it is a nice idea to cover up a little when dining in a nice area, but lots of people don't do it. I do always were my nicer cover-ups to Dreams, which are, as Elizabeth suggests, more of a sundress than a simple cover-up. But the folks who come in off the jet ski tours sit in the main dining room, and they're wet! I think as long as you're covered it's all good. I hate to see people come into a restaurant, even on the beach, in a swimsuit without a cover-up.
