Great place to stay for 2 nights. On the beach - 05/03/2017 07:29 PM

I am picking up my charter on a sat. Aug.
I want to come in early to check out the sights before my charter. I am looking for ideas for inexpensive beach hotels near great bars and restaurants

Hi. I moved this thread from People Talk to here, as this is where it belongs. Not sure why you posted the same question again though?

As I stated in my response in the other thread, recommend Mary's Boon on Simpson Bay beach.

I wouldn't say that Mary's Boon is inexpensive but it is a great location. They have a bar and restaurant right there. It is a fairly short walk/drive up to the main road where you can find bars and restaurants.

It depends on which rooms you are in. The below grade rooms are inexpensive.

I just looked at the OP criteria again and saw that he's coming in on a Saturday. If he intends to stay Saturday and Sunday, I withdraw my recommendation of MB, because of the excessively LOUD music at the party at Karakter on Sunday afternoon. (Unless he's under 30)

Some thoughts - guessing you will have a car

Sonesta in Maho - close to airport, AI, but with a summer rate who cares if you miss some meals and no foraging for food and drink if you are a 1st timer

Horny Toad - no recent info, but on beach, inexpensive

These 2 options put you close to provisioning, charter and resto / bars and airport if you hae to pick up any incoming crew

Could try Grand Case area or Orient - maybe La Playa

Let us know what you choose

Horny Toad is a good option, if they will only do two nights.

The past few visits we have been staying in Grand Case. We like it because it's totally walkable with great restaurants and bars on a good beach. For two nights you can look at Love Hotel, Le Temps Cerises or Le Shambhala. You don't need a car

I would say Mary's Boon all the way, about half of their rooms are within a few feet to the sand and beach. The lower rooms which are really a half below grade are fine if on a budget and large with small kitchenette but I'd still spend a bit more to get a garden or beachfront room. Great bar, restaurant and wonderful uncrowded beach and great caring staff. Karater which I am not a fan of is down the beach about a half block, they must of had it cranked up extra loud, we have never been bothered from their music. Very peaceful at night at Mary's Boon which is most important. Horney Toad is good too. Its kinda like a big guest house but not much in amenities. I think about Anyplace on Simpson Bay would be fine.
