Another Tourist Attraction - 06/15/2017 10:28 AM

This was being built when I was on the island in March. Not all the locals I talked to are happy about it.

Interesting to me to see that locals are only welcome on non cruise ship days!!

I drove past it when going to pick up Aiesha as they live in the area. She thought it was something just for the tourists.

The locals can pay the rack-rate for tourists on cruise ship days, but get their discounted rate on others. I think that's fair.

is this what was built on the Emilio Wilson Estate property? If so, I guess I mistakenly thought one of the tenets of the gift was that it was a gift for all the people OF ST. MAARTEN. Or is this actually located elsewhere? I never was very good at geography....... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

As you are going up towards St. Peters it would be off to your left, towards Simpson Bay, the airport, etc.

The round-a-bout near Mark's Place takes up up the to St. Peters area.

I may be mistaken but I think that is where this originates from.

Yes, Pat. It is Emilio Wilson Park property stolen from the people by their government. Nothing about it is fair. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cloud.gif" alt="" />

I was being a little 'tongue in cheek' but I do think this is disgusting. Then again, maybe they'll use some of the profits to clean up the dump and provide potable drinking water without the ecoli bacteria in it?! Ya think?!

The video tells some of the backstory. I had always wanted to visit the Emilio Wilson Estate, but was never quite sure how to find it. Now I wish I had tried harder!

Not really. I'm thinking the deep pockets will get filled long before the water is clean or the dump is done.

"Don't it always seem to go - that you don't know what you got till its gone."

It breaks my heart and I'm but a visitor - I can't imagine how the people of the island feel about the way this was done. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

You know??? If you are looking for a vacation with rides, take your family to Disney. Don't start digging up precious land that has been there for thousands of years. Who really needs this???? It's bad enough that the island is changing everyday. But this crosses the line!!!
