Morning Walks on Orient Beach

Morning Walks on Orient Beach - 07/16/2017 10:23 AM

At 6:30 am yesterday one of the CO guests was stopped by three uniformed Gendarme, coming back from his walk, about 200 yards on the other side of Pedro's from CO and told to cover up. He was NOT fined. He was one of the few people on the beach at that time. That is the first time, in the 10 years we've been coming here, I've known that to happen. The unwritten rule of thumb has always been "it's ok, just be back by 8 am."

It's not really ok any time. Only ok I guess if you aren't caught.

Glad they are enforcing it. If people want to walk nude they have their own beach to do so.

French laws are enforced by the majority of folks that want this contained. there are people with children that get offended, Why people find the need to over ride this is beyond me. I would be humiliated to be stopped and told to cover up... Before that happens, I would be covered... period.

Funny it's always 'people with children' that get offended. And we wonder why kids grow up with body issues. Jeesh!

It's their country, their laws. If you don't agree and don't want to obey, go somewhere else. Maybe "people with children" also teach their offspring to obey ALL the laws...hopefully... not just the ones they agree with.

Right. I agree. I never could understand this need to stroll the beach nude.

And I've never understood why it bothers some so much, so where does that leave us?

How about everyone just grow up and leave and let be as long as no one is being harmed?

From a personal standpoint, I don't care who likes to do what and when and where they like to do it, BUT I think it's fair and reasonable to expect conformance with rules and regulations in a public place. In other words, it makes perfect sense to me that someone should be asked to discontinue doing something they aren't supposed to be doing on a particular stretch of beach.

...but it's something that people have enjoyed doing there for years and years..

Regardless, this is one of those topics that people will never agree on, and neither side is ever going to convince the other to change their position.
