Others may have a different view on it, but we weren't impressed, for the price. The setting is lovely though.

I ate there a couple of weeks ago and thought it was very good. I too had the onion soup and really enjoyed it. Makes me realize we all have different tastes.

Escape across from Rainbow Beach Club is very good. I also liked Blue Fin in the casino complex when I went there last fall; it was closed the night I tried to go there in June. Bar Code is good for a more casual experience, and I've heard good things about the Spaghetti House although I haven't been there myself yet.

And I have to agree with Carol about Mario's. I went there last Nov/Dec and had their signature duck. It certainly wasn't bad, but I've had better duck dishes here in Portland. Lovely setting but I wasn't that impressed with the food.

I still think the best duck on the island is at Chesterfields. One of my faves when on island.

We have always been a huge fan of the new location of Mario's long before they moved in there, and have tried many a restaurant in that same location because we liked it so much so it was a no brainer we'd try Mario's, too.

But a funny thing happened on the way to the forum.......we had absolutely LOVED our meals at Mario's when they were on the canal and were never served anything we could complain about if we wanted to. But the truth is, we just weren't wild about the location - between the creepy feeling we occasionally had when walking to or from the car and the often times noise of the kids throwing fireworks into the water and again, the noise of the little boats and jet skis as they would rev up while passing under the bridge. But the food was always, IMO, excellent.

Our experiences post relocation are the food has gone down hill a bit - still incredibly good but not what I would consider among the island greats and at the same time, we love the physical location of the building itself.

In honesty, it's more on our horizons now than it was when it was in Sandy Ground. It's closer to where we stay at the Towers; there's no question regarding costs, tipping etc.; and the food and service are still on the high end of the spectrum; there's plenty of parking; you can't beat the actual physical location and there's often times things going on in the PC courtyard after dinner. All in all, a win win in my book.

We were there Thursday evening for our "Last Supper" so to speak. We had a truly enjoyable meal. We love the new location and most everything about it. The service was good, the food was fabulous and the bill was up there. I view it the same way I view an upscale restaurant in Manhattan and a lot more reasonable.

That being said, there are many places to eat on the Island that cost less, bit the view, the ambiance and the service are upscale. There are places in Grand Case that are just as pricey, but as Pat said, easier to get to from where we stay.

Never forget that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and until you try it for yourself, all you have is others opinions and not your own. Give it a try and let us all know your opinion.

We had a fabulous meal there last December. I had never eaten at the old location, so can't compare to that; but the food, atmosphere, and service at the Porto Cupecoy location was perfect. I had Mario's famous duck, and it was one of the best duck meals I've had.
