Picture Of New Fence? - 08/03/2017 03:00 PM

Can someone post a picture of the new fence at beginning of runway at airport. Suppose to curb hanging on the fence?

Unless something brand new has been added, it was like this in July and I am pretty sure even back in March. If it is different than this now, I apologize.

Actually that is the same one that was there yesterday. I just assumed it was new.

I think it has been there for a year or so from what I recall.

Yes, there was a second fence there since after the incident in 2012. Nothing would change that quickly on "island time". <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Why don,t the Government put up a sign that says. "$500 Fine
If Hanging On Fence During Takeoff." End of story!

I doubt it.

They now have a sign that says basically you risk your life sooo I don't think a $500 would be much incentive.

It would work if they enforced the fine. After a bit it would catch on and they would think it was OK when only death was involved but no way am I forking over 500 bucks for it.

It would easily pay for the officers' salary with one takeoff

To be a contrarian....how many people go to that fence every day? For how many years? Now how many people have died? It's a bit blown out of proportion.

How many people get fined on the Dutch side for ANYTHING! In 25 years I have never heard of one. Speeding, DUI, Disorderly conduct?? And fining tourists? Highly unlikely.

First of all!!! How many people get the police to respond to anything? this is so off centered... Do not stand behind the fence... Hows that... Or at your own risk.

For what it is worth, here is a link to the picture I took of the fence and people in October, 2014. https://www.flickr.com/photos/rmg49/

Thanks. Same as what is there now and with people standing in the road. When you look at this, it is surprising there has not been repeated incidents of people hit by cars. While it was a tragedy with what happened, with the crowd and congestion coupled with the jet blast, it has been a relatively safe area.

Wow, OK, didn't remember that, but pictures don't lie! People do stand and walk in the road all the time, especially on the OTHER side. They try to walk on the concrete divider between the sand and the road, which is kind of like a sobriety test, which the majority of them would fail!!

The signs have been there for years. The second fence is 5 years old. The newer bolder warning signs are the same age. No fine will deter anyone. Just think about cell phone and texting laws in the US. Everyone knows it's illegal and dangerous and yet they still do it.

What happened is a tragedy, no doubt. It is the first death there ever. But it is the fault of the human being, not the airlines, airport or government. People need to take responsibility for their own actions. Sadly, stupidity will continue to prevail. Let's hope no one else pays for it with their life.

I'll get down from my soapbox now.
