Several members have stayed there, yes, including us. What are your questions?

Yes, nice apartment and pleasant hosts. First and only time staying in Grand Case. We definitely took advantage of being there and dined most nights in town. Beach is accessible by long steep driveway. We opted to go to Orient beach daily.

It's been a number of years though. I can look through my trip report to help with questions you may have.

Thanks. Any input on condition of rooms, in particular the 2 bedroom units. Views, parking, walk into Grand Case, Beach access, etc. Any color would be appreciated

It's been several years since we stayed there, but I doubt it has really changed a lot. As far as condition, the rooms were clean and homey, furniture more like if you stayed at your grandma's house, not like 'resort' furniture. There are units over several floors, and some of the units have totally private balconies, which was one that we had, and some have a shared balcony with at least one other unit. I'm not certain whether all units have a view or not, as I think perhaps some do not. I don't remember. Ours had a lovely view out toward Petit Plage and the sunset. There is plenty of parking, no issue there. I personally would not walk into town, as I am lazy and the road to the Dovesnest is on quite a grade uphill. It's pretty dark going up that road after night too, so not sure how safe it would be after dark. As far as beach access, again, we did not go to the beach there, as there is a pretty steep set of stairs going down to the beach and I do not do stairs well. We drove to Orient every day when we stayed there. One thing which I kind of doubt has changed, but you should check, if it matters--there was only a/c in the bedrooms, not in the main living room.

Very homey place to stay--more like a B & B, without the breakfast! The building houses the owner and his family too, so they live right there on premises, if there are any problems.

We stay nearby at Grand Case beach Club and find the walk into town safe and not strenuous however, that hill up to Dovesnest is steep.

We stayed in 2008 and this is what i wrote in trip report.

Doves Nest Cottages (Grand Case) -- this was the first time we stayed in Grand Case so we took advantage of being in the area and ate most nights in town. The apartments are located north of the Grand Case Beach Club. The owners, Emile and Suzy live onsite. Our bedroom was large with a comfortable queen size bed with several dressers, night stands, and plenty of closet space along with an electronic safe. Inside one of the closets were a brand new iron, blow dryer and ironing board.

Large living room with sectional couch, flat screened TV, floor lamp, and round table with 4 chairs. Kitchen included full size refrigerator, oven with stovetop, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, blender, pots/pans, flatware, plates, etc. Ceiling fans in both rooms; only the bedroom is air-conditioned. We brought along our European blow dryer expecting to use it as we were on the French side but the voltage was 110 in our room.

You have access via a steep driveway down to an area of the beach where there are lounge chairs for use as well as kayaks. We had housekeeping 3 days out of the seven which was more than enough. Plenty of towels and washcloths, soap and other amenities left in the closets.

If you stay, make sure to attend their Wednesday night dinner (which is free). It will probably be the best meal of your trip. Great place and great people

It was a great meal. I didn't include that info as I was unsure if they still offered the free bbq?

My husband and I stayed there last April 2017 as I wanted to try the French Side. The units are as described above. Units were very spacious with a beautiful balcony over looking the sea. I was a bit put off by the beach for swimming at first but it continued to grow on me and by weeks end I loved it. The waves make a wonderful sound as they recede over the smooth black stones. I felt like I was in Greece. We walked into Grand Case several times for dinner and I loved being able to walk. We came back after dark and had no problems. The hosts Emile and Suzy Larmony were wonderful hosts and had a great dinner for all the guests one night. They also provided free passes to Pinel Island which we enjoyed very much. We often went to Happy Bay which requires parking and then walking but the Beach there is amazing and quiet especially if you can avoid the day the tours and party boats come. If we go again I would ask for one of the top units as you can park right near them and have a back private entrance. All units do have a private balcony.

If you are at the far end unit your balcony is private but to get to your unit on second floor you have to walk through the first units patio both coming and going. I don't recall what the setup was for first floor? Owners apt was on top of our unit. We parked in back for easy entry to our floor.
