DAy 6 & 7 - 08/10/2017 08:30 PM

Day 6 was moving day and met Frank and Natalie and the new villa. Nice private pool and house well maintained. Stayed around the pool all day until dinner time.
Today we chose Skip Jacks, got there right at the end of happy hour so sprinted to the bar with 2 minutes to spare Unlike the States we figured it was a discounted drink instead of 2 for 1. All the better, maybe everyone does that down here. Received our 2nd drink and then got seated waterfront. Met a nice couple from New Jersey and talked about what each of us had done so far and what plans were in the future. My wife went fishing for a Caribbean lobster and I chose the ribs. (always the standby if chicken parm isn't on the menu. Both were very good. Waiter allowed Dana to reluctantly perform the last rights on the lobster.

Day 7 went to Mullet Bay. Why more people don't talk about this beach I cant understand. Beautiful beach, maybe not great for older folks as it is a drop off into loose sand to make it to the water. Chester hooked us up with a "waterfront" Good guy, takes care of the beach and seems to enjoy his job. Anyway, beautiful water and beach. Dana likes El Zafiro or we would make another visit. $15.00 for 2 chairs and umbrella. Ate at Rosies for lunch I had ribs and rice, Dana had chicken. Chicken was better.
For dinner we drove a ways again for Pineapple Petes. Nice atmosphere, the "head pineapple" made the evening. May be the owner, I don't know but seemed to enjoy his job and seating people and stopped by our table several times to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. They did have a singer musician playing and it was at an enjoyable low volume. Perfect evening. Ohhh I had ribs, very good and Dana had coconut shrimp with mango salsa. Both very good. If it wasn't for wanting to try a different place each night we would've went back again this trip.

We walked across street and walked through casino. Was all slots. Some sports betting.
Headed home.

Mullet doesn't always have the drop off. When it is calm and you can walk straight in to the water, it's about as good a beach as you can find! And I love Rosie's!!

Thanks for the updates. Mullet Bay has been my favorite beach since 1991.

Thanks for the post. So many good restaurants, it's tough to make it through the list once, let alone going back a second time.

John and Dana,

Enjoying each of your days through your daily reports so TY for sharing your trip with all of us. They really do he.p when the next visit is a way off in the distance.

We started visiting SXM in 1973 and Mullet was where we stayed. Over the years we've visited most of the island beaches and Mullet is still our favorite. Don't get me wrong. - there are others we enjoy - Simpson Bay, Grand Beach, Friars Bay Beach, Grand Case Beach to name but a few, and for a lovely but considerably more expensive day that would be Anse Marcel - but Mullet has always been and will probably always be my personal favorite.

As we get older I pray for the gently sloping walk in Beach as we find the sand cliff - when there is one - to be daunting, and the rough waters that can happen have turned turned more than a few of our beach days into pool days, but it's still our island favorite. One can always curl up on a beach chair with a good book and just listen to the beach sounds......

But in what I refer to as a perfect "Mullet kind of day..." there is no place in this world I'd rather be, and for lunch - Rosie's dry rub ribs! Perfect!! And I wish I could say our next trip will be 'soon come' but sadly, I have a while to wait!

Another vote for Mullet.
Always a surprise as how the water is going to be, but so beautiful and blue, when it's calm!!

Love it and always eat at Rosie's.

We "resemble" that older folks description but nothing else... We LOVE Mullet and Bob prefer's body surfing when the waves are rolling....
