I have been told that the roof on Coco's, next to Mary's Boon, was blown off.

People are "hearing" and posting all kinds of things. Some may be factual but "hearsay" is often not factual. I have also seen it posted several other places are "gone" but then see pictures that tell a different story. Some places may be gone but lets cut down on the speculation.

It may also be much more time before more up to date and accurate information gets out from the island.

I was told this from the owner of a unit in Coco's, have not seen pics, but trust this info. Still waiting for info on my unit in Le Papillon. It is so heartwarming to hear from friends on the island and they are ok, one of the bright spots among all the destruction.

Some one posted, or linked to a few pix on one of Mary's Boon's Face Book pages. I couldn't really tell if there was major damage, or maybe that was just the observation deck destroyed. But, you can check it out yourself.

We stay at Mary Boon often. Everyone is safe ,even the dogs and cats. I heard from the GM on the property that the hotel had damage to a few roofs mainly just the zinc gone and the only wooden building with 2 rooms they had was gone. A few of the lower rooms had 2 feet of water. The main building and the other buildings had little or no serious damage. Just a big clean up. Nothing like the hurricane they had in 1999 that sat on the island for a day or longer that destroyed much of the hotel. Obviously after that they rebuilt the hotel very strong.

We've been told that the building that includes rooms 9 & 10 has been "destroyed".

We have been staying at the facility for 20 years, about the last 15 in room 10. The information came from a trustworthy source.

We stayed at the Boon in '96 when Mark and Carla were in the process of rebuilding their dining room and main building, destroyed in Luis the September before. The owner assured us it would never be destroyed again based on the footings and fortifications he was putting in place. I so hope they were right and their efforts then have paid off now. So sorry to hear of the loss of those end units - we loved staying in them, too.....

I think those rooms are (was) the only wood building on the property and needed to be redone. Everything else cement block. The have some repair and rebuilding to do but from what I hear once the staff can come back and after a few days of clean up they could reopen. Thank God everyone was safe.

Bob and Dot--sounds like you're saying the same thing--one building containing two rooms potentially destroyed, but the rest of the hotel should be ok.
