Has anyone seen or heard any estimates about when PJIA might resume some flight arrivals or departures? Has the runway even been cleared?

Dutch Marines are working on it. High priority 24 hour work. It will be as quick as possible. Priority is noncommercial traffic to help recovery. Commercial planes will be allowed to return residents and take tourists out when the airport can handle that. They're going as fast as they can. No idea when tourists will be allowed back...

Thanks Jeff, this is very helpful information. We have friends waiting to get out, but my guess is that this won't happen at least until after Jose passes. If you get any definitive timelines, please pass it on. Tough times for everyone and a long time before things get back to "normal".
Thanks again.

Just saw on FB that they have opened the airport and expecting a relief plane in a few hours. Don't know how accurate this is.

When able, I think it would be a symbolic uplift for the island if KLM/Air France flew some big 747s in full of workers/supplies.
