Horny Toad - Pictures

Horny Toad - Pictures - 09/12/2017 04:19 AM

These aren't very good pictures, but they are the only ones I've seen so far.

The tall white buildings in the foreground are Las Arenas. If you look next door and a little to the left of Las Arenas, you can see the roof of the round building at Horny Toad. The sides appear to have been blown in.

The status of the guest house is inconclusive. The roof that appears to be showing clearly isn't going the right direction, and you can't really see what's below the roof. So while Horny Toad may not be "gone," it clearly has suffered significant damage.

The following was posted on Sept. 8 by "gpaulh" who had a personal discussion by phone with Betty.

Quote
Had a long talk with Betty this morning. First the good news: Debbie and her husband Doug were off island and are OK. Cherry, a longtime employee and manager is also safe.

The damage to the Horny Toad is severe. The smaller building where the owner/manager office was located is no more.
The second floor of the main building is gone. There is so much debris that no one has been able to view the building from a water view.

There is not enough information to make any long term decisions. Let's all hope we Toadys will return.

Very interesting as it sure looks as though the roof and some of the structure of the round building/manager office is still standing.

That may be the case. I have no idea who Betty's source of information was but the poster did speak to her himself. He and I know each other and he had contacted me about trying to get in touch with her. Perhaps she was given bad information, I just don't know.
