Trump's Chateau des Palmiers, located on Plum Bay beach
is still standing with hardly a single roof tile lost according to pictures sent to USA TODAY...

Hmmmm, how can The island make everyone withstand these storms.

French/dutch needs to put a staff of architects on the island for locals.

They need some simple building plans/codes for reinforced concrete structures and storm rooms within so they can have windows.

They need to subsidize rebar and concrete for the residents to get price affordable ----- obviously not the mega villa builders.

Possible subsidize a standard set of basic hurricane windows/doors/with shutters. Use anything else or special sizes, you pay unsubsidized price.

Anything less than more concrete and higher elevation from storm surge is tempting mother natures wrath.

Again, as always, easier said than done especially with other peoples money. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

One of our friends house right above Trumps was not badly damaged either. Was good to here that this morning.

It kinda makes my point in a previous thread, there is a distinct difference between good construction and shoddy construction. Granted, if you are building in Plum Bay you probably can afford the former.
