Good read. Really neat story. They are good people.

We worry about some of the folks weve met and wish we could help.

Also, the Westin took a beating according to these pics.

A good story in many ways.

Nice story.

The article said that Westin was going to have to be torn down? I don't know that is correct. While I have always considered the Westin an eyesore, it does service a section of the tourism industry, for high end meetings and conventions.

Heartwarming, for sure. There really ARE good people in this world. Like Fred Rogers mother always told him, "look for the helpers". TFS!

These stories are wonderful, everyday occurrences here. The stories I hear break then bring huge joy to my heart. For the most part, everyone who has are helping everyone who does not have. Only way this will work.

We gave our home to a homeless local family when we left after the storm. At least we had a roof, which they did not. As soon as our power and electricity came back our house was opened to all of our "employees" who did not have. They have showered, done laundry, taken bars of soap, laundry detergent, jugs of water and any extras that were in the house. Some STILL have nothing, and we will continue to give what we can. They will get fresh made banana bread today! lol

Not just us, but MOST.

While I have never met Elaine I must tell about her. She is an "angel on earth". After reading now about how she is helping the helpless I just had to write my experience about her. We lost our home to Sandy (we live on the Jersey shore) and I had wrote about it (with many others) on TTOL. I received a PM from Elaine who offered her home in Connecticut for us to stay in while we were homeless. Being a distance away, we were unable to accommodate her great offer. We ended up staying in north Jersey with relatives. Now Elaine didn't even know us, we never met. Yet here was someone with a heart of gold to offer us her home. We survived and made it through all of it but to this day, my husband and I still talk about that wonderful woman who lives in SXM and offered us her home. Elaine, we will never forget you and your generosity. You may not even remember this but we will certainly never forget it. Some day I hope we will meet so I can thank you in person. God bless you.

Oh my goodness, thank you all! We are strong believers in paying it forward whenever we get the chance. But my point was, it's an every day occurrence here. And I expect in any other horrific circumstance, such as Sandy! Big or little acts of kindness are necessary for the world to go around. Gave away my sippy cup yesterday! LOL
