From a trusted long time employee that was at the meeting and got his notice. I know him well.

Just saw a bunch of posts about this on Facebook. This is very concerning to all of us owners there. I am in touch with several employees there and frankly I’m to upset to call them right now. I’m sure they are devastated and angry. Many of them have worked there since the place opened!
Diamond needs to get their sht together or they will end up with a reputation like Algeria. Actually they are pretty close right now!!! If it wasn’t or the employees I would tell them to go pound sand!!!!!

I didn't think Algeria had a reputation to be compared with Diamond Reports.

Think you missed my point. Algeria is a country not a resort on st maarten.

Have you heard anymore what they are doing for repairs? Have they started yet? No updates from Diamond. Sorry to hear this about the employees. I am hoping the severance pkg is a good one.

Through 2019 or until 2019?? That makes no sense, how it could take that long?

"Through 2019" sounds like December 31, 2019. Is that what you heard?

If they had alot of structural damage, and have not started repairs, It could take that long. So many resorts down is just terrible for the Island, but we kind of forget the magnitude of this storm!!! I feel for the working people, non of this will bring vacationers back that will be so needed if the Island is too recover... No one wants to hear negative reports, but given the damage this hurricane did, Not surprised at the time frame at all... Something to remember is!!! Between waiting on ins. money, lack of material, and decent repair people, this all makes sence... We have damage at our home on Island, and the repairs will take much longer because the material is just not available. Especially roofing... Of cource these resorts should have much better availability, but the damage is huge .. Feel just terrible for the Island and its people..

Yes. Through 2019.

Wow. Sad to see this but I hope they will rebuild better than ever. It was not in the greatest shape when we were there this time last year. Hopefully, they will take this opportunity to make Flamingo pristine again.

Wow, I just don't understand how it could take that long. Have they begun any work on the buildings? Was there structural damage to the buildings?? Is there any statement as to the actual extent of damage? This is so unfair to the timeshare owners.

Certainly Algeria has a much better reputation than Alegria.

This is exactly what I have expected from Diamond. They were going to start an owners association a couple of years ago, but the voting for board members was rigged and only the candidates that were part of diamond personal were elected. And then there was never any contact with owners about resort affairs. Now after Irma, Diamond was trying to get everyone to exchange into some of the poorest resorts in low season, and charge a large fee to do so.

I saw this mentioned on FB as well. However, it was in regards to the Flamingo property. Does this apply to the Royal Palm as well?

Diamond has been trying to clean house of all fixed week owners, since they came out with points. It will be interested to see how they handle article 2 of all the orginal contracts. I know one owner [a Dutch lawyer ] who has sent them a letter in this regard.

Devastating for the employees and folks who have homes there for many, many years. A bad time for all

Did any of you see the episode on the TV series "Undercover Boss" featuring the CEO of Diamond? Bare cheated in his pool, crowing about all his money. That put me off Diamond before I even considered buying there. We have 7 TS's, but no Diamond in the rough rough!

Re: Flamingo & royal palm closed through 2019 - 12/19/2017 07:54 PM

Actually there were two episodes of Undercover Boss with him. I found his conduct on both to be rude and boorish.

He is no longer the CEO of Diamond and lost his position before Diamond was sold to the current company.
